Dwarf Fortress is a simulator game in which the player indirectly guides the actions of a Dwarven settlement making their home in a procedurally-generated fantasy world, helping them build great projects and defend their fortress from invaders. The game is renowned for its ability to generate compelling narratives through play; see the stories of the fortresses Headshoots and Syrupleaf. It's also renowned for its precipitous learning curve; it's really not hard, but the game itself is very beginner-unfriendly.
There's a tradition in the DF community of "succession games," where a list of players sign up to play the game and share their narrative of what happens, handing off the game to the next person on the list after a certain amount of time. I hosted a succession game a while ago; it was fun, but we didn't have enough people sign up to keep it going for very long. This is a second attempt.
You can sign up to be one of the players and/or sign up to be "dwarfed" and have a dwarf in the game named after your forum handle. You can then role-play as that dwarf in response to what happens during the player's turn.
"Dwarfed" RP goes in the "Dwarf RP Thread," all OOC discussion including dwarfing and player queue requests go in the OOC thread. The "Addenda" thread is for Schilcote's use only, and information such as rules, DF worldbuilding info, the player queue, maps of the fortress, etc... Each player's turn goes in their own thread.
