WoD: New York - Myth-Weavers Lethe

WoD: New York

Game Description

It's pretty much a playground. I create the place, you play in it. I'm running a few solo threads, but I intend to run a group or two as well.

There is no real plot (or a few dozen at any given point, depending on how you look at it). The city lives and breathes, dies and seethes around the characters, whether they help it along or not.As clocks across the city strike midnight, a dead man walks the streets of Manhattan. His mind churns with the insane events of the last forty-eight hours. If someone had told him three days ago that he'd soon join the ranks of the undead, he'd have called the nuthouse. "Or, more likely, back away slowly then start running." he muses with a smile.

Fifty feet behind him, Adam Blaines tails his master's childe, making sure he keeps out of trouble. He glares at his charge's back, jealousy swirling through his thoughts. Twenty years he'd served, and served faithfully. And then his master, his life, finds this fool, and bam! Embraced within a few months, while Adam stays a ghoul. "It's not fair." he thinks as a cab cruises past him.

In the back of the cab, the woman known Venice as fidgets nervously as her fellow Mastigos, Bane, sits statue-like beside her. "What if they-" She is interrupted by Bane raising a single finger, motioning for silence. For a long moment, he remains still and silent, then turns to her. "By all accounts, the majority of their kind are reasonable, if calculating and merciless beings. I believe that if we are respectful, they will at least hear us out. Besides." He gives his partner a wry smile. "They are most likely as afraid of you as you are of them."

Venice laughs gently despite herself. They were nearly at the building where this midnight meeting would take place. Though her stomach was full of butterflies at the prospect of having a chat with undead predators, she pushed them away, concentrating on giving off a calm and composed appearance. That lasts until about the point the giant, furry beast slams into the front of the cab, smashing the windshield and crumpling the front half of the car like aluminium foil. Bane's shout of "Jesus! is just barely audible over the screeching tires and folding metal, but seems to ring in her ears after the almighty smash as a street lamp stops the cab.

Bane's eyes flutter open. It takes a moment for him to recall what happened. Through the blood clouding his vision, he looks at Venice, sees her stir. The cabbie is not so lucky, his chest currently home to the half of his steering wheel not lodged in his skull. The mage feels for Venice's arm, shakes it a little. "We need to move." he croaks out. He knows he is injured, but hopefully it's only minor. In any case, he can't afford to start off relations with a late arrival. They'd just have to leg the last five minutes. As he helps the woman out of the wreck, he notices the man lying on the road, the smear of blood starting about thirty feet behind him. "No time. The ambulance will get him, if he can be helped."

Derek Hall watches the humans pull themselves from the cab, then frowns at the limp form on the ground. The pack's been pretty badly hurt by the struggle - he can barely stand, though he can feel the pain beginning to fade already. He looks to his Kara, the pack's alpha. "Should we finish him off?" The rahu's first instinct was to kill the Pure invader, before he could come back with buddies, but she reconsidered. "No. We kill him, they his pack comes for revenge. We messed him up pretty bad. Let him limp home to 'em. They won't be coming back here anytime soon. Now let's get out of here before someone sees us."

As she turns around to head home, three figures step out from an alley. "Think again." Derek barely hears his alpha's reply as his mind and body surrendered to Death Rage. His last rational thought is that he wasn't going to come out of this one.

And then he didn't care.
