The goal of this game will be to shift the Monsterhearts genre slightly, from the teen dramas like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Teen Wolf to the teen epics like Harry Potter, Hunger Games, or Everworld if anyone else remembers those.
To this end, we're going to spend the application period and the first few weeks of the game working on a collaborative world-building game, using a heavily modified version of the Dawn of Worlds rules.
Ideally, this world-building will not only serve to build in big, messy, entertaining backstories and ready-made plot points for our characters, but also extend the Monsterhearts system of teenage allegory. In the same way Skins serve as internal, amplifying metaphors (of course I'm wild and irrational and emotional, I'm a Werewolf/ of course selfish and destructive in relationships, I'm a Vampire), hopefully the supernatural elements we build in and the histories we write will serve as metaphors for the characters' relationships with the world around them. (Of course I feel my teachers are out to get me, they're Brain-Leeching Aliens. Of course my parents disapprove of my relationship, our people are Ancient, Hated Enemies)
