Valestone Needs You
Far Away, in the deepest parts of the Abyss, five heroes battle with a horrifying monstrosity. Magic is thrown in flashing barrages, hammers and swords shining with light, enchantment, and the will of the Gods themselves. Their bearers are the heroes of their world. They have saved the princess, fought the Goblins, Killed the Lich and Slain the Dragon. They have done all there is for a hero, all but fighting off Hell itself. The Battle is bloody, eventually, only one hero remains. A Paladin, clad in Full-Plate armour, wielding a hammer granted to him by his god to signify his faith. He leaps into the air, toward the abomination, and swings the hammer, crunching through hellspawned flesh and bone even as scything claws tear into his torso. The Battle is won and Lost. The World is saved, and the Heroes remembered.
That is how a story ends. This, is how a Story Begins. You are not heroes, not yet, you are the sons and daughters of farmers, woodsmen, basket weavers and miners. You are the young men and women of the hamlet of Valestone, a small village built next to a stream. The Village is quiet, most of the time, hidden by forests, usually unnactractive to bandits. Recently, however, poor luck has reached the town. It started when one of the Miners had found a chunk of iron ore in the bottom of the Quarry. The miners had begun digging fervently to find more, but have recently returned to their homes, refusing to work. Along with this, Bandits have begun to plague the road out to the town where goods are sold, and they've begun to grow bolder with the absence of the Lord's men to guard the road.
It is a time of strife for the village, as trade is hard to conduct, and the mines are closed, not producing metal for the blacksmith, and the Lord is silent. That is where you come in, young men and women of Valestone. Save your families, save your home, and bring prosperity to Valestone once more!
