96 ALW, the Lylat system maintained an uneasy peace after several conflicts nearly depleted the material and participant resources of Corneria and Venom. Being that neither side could rightly afford another armed conflict, the peace lasted for 60 years as the governments of the system began to realize their neighbors were worth more to them alive than dead or conquered. The advent of the Jump Gate and Sub-Light Engine had only cemented the peace in the system as Lylat found itself against one foe after another.
There were allies to be found though, and soon enough a wide section of the Sagittarius Arm, now known as the OSA (Outer Sagittarius Arm) Sector, was available for exploration. The galaxy beyond that is a dangerous place, not just for the possible friends and enemies, but also the environmental hazards and remnants of some ancient civilization that have remained active for thousands, or in some cases, millions of years.
This is the story of a mercenary crew from the Lylat System. Their ship, The S.S. Darkstar, is a Heavy Assault Carrier attained through "less than legal" channels. Under the command of Admiral "Calico" Jack Rackham, the Darkstar Mercenary Team was in its hay-day. The contracts paid top dollar, members were living the good life, and investors couldn't have been happier.
Things took an interesting turn when Admiral Calico went missing on an inconspicuous visit to Fortuna. Join us on the crew's search for their brave leader as they discover their own merit in the process.
