Forgotten Stars
The Chromeon Sector has been a melting pot of governments, religious cults, factions, and pirates ever since the Silence ended. With the reintroduction of spike drives and interstellar travel, communications and trade sparked up relationships between old friends and enemies.
The year is 3200, 150 years after the supposed end of the Silence. Spike drive capable ships are becoming more prominent in the sector and new rutters courses are being discovered daily by brave merchants and governmental forces. Large corporate factions threaten to take the place of old standing governments in what some call the "Corporate Wars". Psionic gifted beings are beginning to reappear, many are treated with scorn and hatred, while some still find safe harbor with a few planets. They are obviously not held in such high regard as they once were.
Through all the new excitement of rediscovery, the remnants of an pre-Scream salvaging fleet watches with bemused curiosity. The Cabal had gained a reputation of iron-fist supremacy having access to one of the only pre-Scream spike drive fleets in the sector. They claimed 'protection' and lordship over several planets near the outskirts of known space and taunted their knowledge of travel lanes and fire power. For a hundred of years, their cruelty and power set them apart from the other salvaging fleets to become the most widely recognized and feared.
This is where the story starts. When several small time pilots with a variety of useful skills look for acceptance into the Cabal's ranks. The Cabal was known for being ruthless, and these pilots may have been as well, or they may have just fallen on rough times and needed the security that the Cabal offered. Whatever the case, they found themselves awaiting a meeting, jammed together in a small room in the bowels of an outpost world known as, Grong.
