High Risk High Reward
It is 9 years after the Clone Wars ended, and the newly formed Galactic Empire is flourishing. For many, in the Core worlds especially, it is a time of growth and prosperity. In the Mid Rim, things are not as stable. Utilizing it's overwhelming power, the Empire subjugates worlds and crushes any opposition with an iron fist. In the far flung reaches of the Outer Rim, life goes on relatively unchanged; the weak are killed by the strong and the rich take advantage of the poor.
With the chaos brought on from the Empire's crackdown, many people have fled the relative safety of the inner worlds for the freedom of the Outer Rim. In the undeveloped and sparsely populated Rim, however; work is hard to come by, especially for many who are used to a much softer way of life. And as always, there are those looking to take advantage of others, the desperate and the stupid and uninformed. While technically illegal under both the Old Republic and the new Galactic Empire, slavery, or "Indentured Servitude" as the Hutt's like to call it, is still a thriving business.
Ads for work in remote places draw in people of all sorts, legitimate tradesmen looking for work, down on their luck nobodies looking for credits to help them drown their sorrows, and desperate mothers and fathers who only want to be able to feed their children. Along with these are the grifters, thieves, and thugs who feed off the weak. All are drawn into a net cast by a much greater evil.
Orlan IV is a barely habitable backwater planet in the Outer Rim. A rocky ball with little water and local fauna with far too many teeth. It is here that you have found yourself, for whatever reason; seeking to do whatever it is you do in order to make a living. But instead of opportunity, you find that it is in fact others who have used you to further their own gains.
