Poor Bloody SOD's
The year is 172 Steam, and two years ago Hell literally broke loose. After a border dispute escalated into full war, the Empire of Aldren quickly stormed across the mountains and plains of Povisk, sweeping all opposition aside in front of them. Just as their victory seemed a matter of negotiating surrender with some isolated pockets, Duke Bysil Korolov stooped to extreme measures. As revealed by the Poviski Crown Prince Adrian himself, the Duke allied himself with Drow cultists of Lilith, enacting a scheme of large scale ritual sacrifice to shift the laylines of Povisk and open a portal to Hell.
With the situation rapidly spiraling out of control, Prince Adrian was unable to stop the mad Duke's plans. Faced with an invasion on two fronts, Prince Adrian took the only option available to him and formally surrendered his nation to the Empire of Aldren. Despite the main portal opening in the heart of the Poviski capitol, the combined forces of the Poviski and Aldrish were able to effect an evacuation and contain the demons.
The Aldrish and the now subject Poviski have been able to hold the line for two years. But every casualty suffered by the mortal defenders hurts measurably more when faced with a foe of literally limitless numbers. A more through solution than containment is required if the mortal realm wishes to remain free.
This year, at the urging of Prince Adrian, the Aldrish Empress has called for a conference between the nations of Greater Petradi. Given the long standing animosity between the neighboring nations, the conference is to take place in the neutral nation of Hochwald, the so-called 'nomad state'. Many of the eastern world's leaders will be present, and security from both the Hochwalder and the visiting nations is exceptionally tight. But the conference is also an extremely tempting target for the Mad Duke and his Drow companions...
