Game Description

The basic gameplay specs:

DnD 4E system-- any available books on hand are available for your use as material for your character or any other purpose.

Characters generated will be generated from the typical 22 pt. buy. Again-- race, class, powers and other features can come from any 4e books you want except for Dragon Magazines. All races are pretty equally accepted and are a matter of personal taste rather than there being any profound effect in the game world.

Starting off, characters will be level 1 with 100 gp to their name to purchase starting equipment (standard method) but will, in addition receive a 'gift' piece of gear that will be +1. This gear can be any slot, armor type or weapon type of your choice. The one thing I want about this item is for it to be special in some way shape or form. I will gladly work with you on the details of the statistics of the item in question, but I want the item to be of some importance to your character and I want to item to be 'in line' with other +1 items in terms of the special abilities you bestow on it. While you are free to make something up, I will work with you on the details, it is probably easiest to copy and paste a trait or enchant from another item to this item. Keep in mind, that no matter what you apply to the item, it will considered part of the 'base item' You can add another enchant or trait to it as if you bought a new item and you can spend money to up it's level, but the base abilities it has will always be part of the item.

About the setting:

The setting, to be described in short will be more in line with a typical dnd world. Medieval fantasy with some magic. While magic is known and generally accepted in the world, there are very few who have seen any kind of magic past very basic cantrips such as 'light' or 'prestidigitation', and even a few that have seen low level attack spells such as 'Magic Missile' and the like. So practiced spell casters, both arcane and divine are fairly rare except for certain places in the world and most 'magical' abilities perceived by the common folk range from charming tricksters who dazzle those around them to baffle them or from encounters or tales of encounters with monsters and other creatures outside the scope of normal life. That is not to say that there aren't shops or resources unavailable to those who practice magic, but it generally more of a mystical feel than a day-to-day occurrence.

Your adventures will typically center around a single town called Yhanir (Yawn-ear) It is a large settlement with several districts, ranging from a hoodlum-infested poor district, to a mystic and Clergy district dedicated to the arcane and divine arts to the Noble district that all circumnavigate the core of the town, Highrise Keep, which houses the ordained magistrate and the senate.

The Magistrate is of noble birth and is considered similar to a 'king', though their power is largely decorative the magistrate typically does have a large say in issues, being regarded as 'The voice of Yahnir'. The Senate on the other hand, is comprised of representatives from the districts who are housed in the keep and carry out diplomatic duties on behalf of their districts and are called to vote on issues that involve the city as a whole. This is not to say that they always get along, for there is constantly intrigue and shady deals carried out in the name of getting better deals for their home districts or for themselves personally, as they may desire to rise to the rank of nobility themselves, regardless of whom they must topple over along the way.

Within this world, Guilds and other upstart adventurer companies are the lifeblood of civilization. he outside world is dangerous and yet supplies and materials that can only be found in the wilderness must be gathered. Information about creatures as must be learned, game must be hunted. Dark beasts and villains that threaten civilized life must be fought off. Yhanir is one such townstate that depends on these companies for it's day-to-day life, and it is not alone in doing so.

Other townstates exist, with their own guilds and such. All of these guilds work with and against each other all forming a balance of power between all of the townstates that keep a measure of peace through deterrence between the civilizations. Guilds commonly compete to increase their rank but also just as commonly may team up with another guild to accomplish difficult tasks or to beat larger guilds than themselves to complete certain missions or in tournaments.
