Game Description

This is the Age of Godlings, and you are one of these mysterious and powerful beings.

You have awakened after a long slumber, brought to consciousness by an unknown force. You find yourselves in a strange land with unknown people in it, though they seem to know an aspect of you and worship you. Their devotion gives you power, gives you life. You must explore, and make this people great; the greatest in the land!

At the moment, they are merely poor farmers scratching a living from the land or finding it from the sea, knowing almost nothing of the lands beyond. They take care of themselves, finding food and going about their daily business. However, to accomplish anything more than that, they require your divine influence and inspiration. Whether that means conquering the world, creating its greatest art, or discovering the truth behind the awakening of the godlings, remains to be seen. What you must do is influence your people to do the things you deem worthy of action.

Your first post should be describing you and your purview as a godling. You can be as detailed or as vague as you wish, holding back details for later. At minimum, you should decide on a name (or names) and a general outlook or style. Posting an image would also be nice.

Once we’ve established you as godlings, the game will progress (very loosely, about one in-game month) every time each of you has chosen a single action. I’ll follow with a post detailing an updated map and statistics. In short, everyone puts one post saying their action and specifies descriptions or details, then I post with updated map and results. Being precise is important, but writing a description is good! Using named characters, giving them lives and backgrounds, and/or describing historic events in detail grants useful bonuses to your actions.

When you choose to gather faith, you can specify how you want your followers to worship you. Easier types (chanting, leaving wine at an altar) will lead to consistent, low amounts of power, while choosing a difficult method of prayer (sacrificing a green hen at midnight at the dark of the moon) will make getting power from devotion difficult, but grant you a huge amount of power all at once, which can allow you to do something big.

You use faith to act directly upon the world, rather than acting through your followers. You might spend 1 faith to send a specific, clear vision to an architect, to create a building according to your exact design, or you might spend much more faith to send your avatar to walk amongst your people in a blaze of glory. For direct actions that cost faith, you can simply describe the action; for direct actions that can have a varying amount of power, you should specify how much faith you are spending. But be warned, for when you spend faith to take direct action, you also expose yourself to the world, and allow others to take action against you!

You don’t know much more than that at the start of the game; many of the mechanics are hidden, and some you have to discover!

Just tell your people what to do, and they’ll do it, if they can. Who are they to disobey the will of the gods?
