Beyond our safe, comfortable, deluded little existence lay borders we can scarce imagin. Vampires,Werewolves and spirits run a muck here even though we can't see them. In this world of darkness one kind of "monster" inspires more fear (and awe) than any other: Mages, people who for whatever reason have seen through the lies that our fragile reality creates to keep us all Asleep.

Whatever spurred you to Awaken, know this: you are human. You can walk with them in the light of day, and you can speak to them as you would any other time. However yours is a world the Sleepers could never understand and even if you tried to show them it would only end in pain: Paradox, also known as "the Cosmic B*tch slap" will launch you into a world of suffering, because the Consensus must be maintained; the Masses must be appeased.

But all is not lost. Despite the best efforts of the Technocracy not all Magick is lost to the world. Take Dubai for instance. Here the Taftani have created a space where Reality can't touch them; a place where buildings touch the very upper limits of the sky and where all seems possible for someone with the vision to make it so. All is not perfect. Dubai has the largest wealth desparity in the world, and many of its poorer citizens live in Ghettos that are little more than shanty towns built on the ruins of decrepit buildings and made of what junk they could cobble together: and in this World of Darkness that dark truth is just a little bit darker...
