Concerning Earth
It is the year 2909, posthumanity is thriving throughout the rest of the solar system while Earth is still recovering from the civilization crushing world war that occurred in 2304. You are Polis citizens, whole brain emulations who are either direct mind uploads or instead their simulated offspring, chiefly inhabiting Polis Prime—the first all infomorph city state located in Earth’s L4 orbit. In this city each of you live very well as ‘foreign relation agents’; a job involving a mixture of hacking/cyber-security operations, diplomacy with other Polises & city-states of the embodied, and a healthy dose of good old fashioned trouble shooting.
One day while taking deserved vacations within the nigh-infinite virtual reality paradise environments you were all contacted by the leaders of Polis Prime. After being given the pass through highly secure channels (descendants of VPN networks) they informed you that observation satellites detected a momentary, yet undeniable, signal coming from the Earth’s surface which suggested active technology almost as advanced as that possessed by the Coalition of Polises. Therefore, they have begun production of a computer system with a supporting coms-system & drones that will take you down to the Earth.
