The story begins after the infamous event of the Assassins' Strike, a single night when the Medusan Lords slew the greatest leaders and heroes of the Accordlands. The few leaders who remain are desperately struggling to hold their shattered societies together, or to defend them from the rise of power-hungry warlords. Not only must they struggle against the Medusan Lords, they must survive against the other evils rising across the world, already potent threats have been made worse by the deaths of so many. The dreaded abyssals are swarming from the depths of the earth to drive the dwarves from their ancient homes. Nassiral Hate has united legions of nothrog under his banner and taken control of Baraxton. He now sets his steely gaze upon the other nations. The Deverenian Empire is preparing once again to expand its dominion across the world. The Elves tear across the beleaguered human kingdoms of the west, destroying towns and cities in vengeance for an ancient curse. Dragons emerge from centuries of myth at the behest of the mysterious man calling himself the Dragon Lord.
This tale sweeps across the breadth of the world of Larisnar and back again, from rarefied mountain peaks to the blackest dungeon in the underbelly of the earth, from snow-swathed forests to pest-ridden swamps to desolate plains. Only the bravest, the strongest, the most resourceful, the most worthy of heroes will triumph. If they fail, the entire world will be cast into darkness.
