In early March of 1944, the USS Alamo, an AK-130 Crater-class Navy cargo ship, was lost in the south Pacific. Last reports were that it had been sunk by a Japanese destroyer, taking its full cargo and 230 personnel down with it. On June 19th, 2016, an Australian research ship reported seeing a huge, derelict vessel a few hundred miles from the Vanuatu Islands. Upon approach, the captain spotted the designation on the side of the derelict vessel: USS Alamo. The US Navy immediately sought to investigate the ship. In cooperation with the Australian government, the Navy dispatched a small compliment of researchers whose base of operation would be the Australian ship that first spotted the Alamo. Where has it been for 72 years? How is it still floating? Why was it reported destroyed?
This is a Call of Cthulhu 7E scenario set in modern times. A group of 4 to 5 investigators will be needed for this game. Some recommended sample occupations are: Scientist, Navy Researcher, Historian, Sailor, Veteran, and other occupations that would logically fit into this scenario.
