Game Description

It has been five years since the Dragons returned and attempted to lay claim the lands of the Diamond Throne as theirs once more. They sent out their emmissaries, the Dracha, to parlay with the humans and giants, but to no avail.

The giants had bled and died to protect this land, and they felt it was their rightful role to be stewards of the land. They refused the dragons, and turned their emissaries away.

Some returned to their masters, others renounced their draconic overseers to live peaceful lives in the rich lands of the Diamond Throne.

Those who returned were never seen of again. The dragons broke all contact with the eastern world, seemingly content to wait in Palembor. These past years of peast have been uneasy, however, as no one knows when the Dragons might try again, and if they shall use diplomatic or military means.

At the insistence of her advisors, the queen ordered that the Bitter Peaks be colonised, so that the borders between Palembor and the Diamond Throne could be both made clear and be defended. She sent out the word that all but the worst criminals be given pardon in exchange for accompanying the colonists, and that any able bodied adventurers be asked to join as well. The former would gain their freedom, the latter: wealth and prestige.

While you all have your reasons, you have all made your way to these mountains, to join this 'Western Defence Force'. Who knows what perils await you.Regent Lo-Kadar reclined in his great gruulskin-backed chair - a throne really - and simply relaxed. He had been working hard the last few days, it seemed everyone needed his precious time these days.

Lo-Kadar was the regent of the entire Western Defense Force, a collection of giants and humans based in The Bitter Peaks. A close-knit group of people living in the western settlements, the WDF's primary role was to safeguard the western border of the Lands of the Diamond Throne. With the return of the dragons nearly five years ago, and their obvious intent to bring the lands back under their control, Lady Protector Ia-Thordani had placed even more importance on the protection of the western front against draconic incursion.

Lo-Kadar let himself display a wry grin. As far as he was concerned they were at war. The dragons made it quite clear they wanted the giants gone and their charges handed back under their control. The giants protected the people under their care. The dragons, after creating the world and its inhabitants, had vanished. They had left their twisted daemon-dragons, the Dramohjj, to enslave the populace. The giants from the east had heard of the people’s plight and had abandoned their homeland in order to help. Hundreds of thousands of giants had died to free these people, and countless more had died to protect them. They could not let the lands fall under draconic sway, lest the citizens of the Diamond Throne be brought into slavery once more.

No battles had been fought yet, but they soon would. And Lo-Kadar wanted to be ready for it. That was why he had requested more soldiers from Lady Ia-Thordani. He was still waiting for the requested troops.
