Game Description

This is a game based on the Kingdom of Kalamar setting. D&D 3.5e rules will be used, and no books may be used without DM consent other than Kalamar source books, the DMG, and the Players Handbook.

Race: Keep in mind that Kalamar has its own races. Make sure to choose a race from the Kalamar Players Guide (KPG) and not the PHB.

Religion: Same as above, choose your religion from the KPG.

Class: The KPG has several additional starting classes which can be used in addition to the standard starting classes in the PHB. The KPG also has several additional skills and feats which can be used in addition to the standard skills and feats.

Ability Scores: We are using the Point Buy system as described on page 169 of the DMG. Each character gets 28 points.

Experience: 3000 XP. Page 199 of the DMG has a section called, “Creating PCs Above 1st Level”. I recommend everyone read this section. It’s not very long and contains some good info. Casters may NOT use any starting XP to create magic items.

Starting Gold: 2700 GP. This is the recommended starting amount for level 3 characters (DMG page 135). As far as equipment goes, you may buy partially used magic items as described on page 199 of the DMG. When purchasing equipment you may not spend more than 1/2 of your wealth (1350 GP) on any one item (again, described on page 199 of the DMG). This is to help keep character equipment more realistic to their current level.

Hit Die System: ¾ Round Up. At first level you get your full hit die plus your constitution bonus. Each subsequent level you get ¾ round up.

Example (this example uses an ability score of 14 for Constitution which results in a +2 modifier):

Level 1, Fighter (Hit Die: 1d10) – At first level you get 100% of your hit die (10). Add your Con bonus (+2) and your character has 12HP.

Level 2, Fighter (Hit Die: 1d10) – Each level after first you get ¾ of your hit die rounded up. So in this case… 10*3/4=7.5 ; Round up 7.5 = 8 ; 8HP + Con Bonus (2) = 10HP

Level 3, Rogue (Hit Die: 1d8) 8*3/4=6 ; 6 + Con Bonus (2) = 8HP

Total HP = 30HPTo be added at a later date. :)
