Please create a character first.
1. Go to "RPG Tools" -> "Character Sheets"
2. Create a new sheet, make sure to use the "D&D 4e" template, create a 3rd Level Character with 2251xp.
3. Provide a little blurb in your character's bio about who he is and what he is doing(in general).
4. Return to this page and on the left bar select "Join Game", choose "Applicant Player" and select the character you have just created.
5. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves and decide how you two know or don't know each other. This is also a good time to decide how "if your characters were forces to be in the same party" they would interact with each other and how they see their "fellowship" progressing. I don't actually expect you to have it in stone but finding out a few months in that one of you wants to be Lawful Good and the other one wants to be Chaotic Evil may have the tendency to erode the game. So, a general "lets decide to be good" or "lets decide to be evil" or "lets be opposite but find ways to compromise" would be a good start. Although, because this is a Play-By-Post and I can create private threads for each of you it is ultimately conceivable that you two could wind up mortal enemies!!! but please decide out of game if this is what you want to do before going down this path.This sentence introduces you to the game which you will be playing without getting into any of the specifics or messy details. This sentence wishes to stress to you that is it very important that you understand the nuances of the setting in which you are playing. A sentence that implores you to have an idea about who your character is and what he(or she) is doing in this small town of Rattleshire. Is he passing through? Does he have a steady job with a wife and children?
