Game Description

The Doom of Elsir Vale

Based on the original 3rd Edition adventure, Red Hand of Doom, this campaign for the 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons game is an adaptation of the one of the most popular and exciting modules ever created for the game in any edition. The peace in the land is threatened by an undiscovered nemesis that seeks nothing less than the complete annihilation of all the people within the Elsir Vale. Adventurers seeking their fortunes may soon discover the difference between what it is to be a treasure hunter and what it means to become a true hero.

The campaign will involve two groups of players with six characters on each team. The characters will follow completely different paths along the same time line, affecting the world and events around them with their actions, or sometimes their inaction. There may even come a time when the two groups will cross paths to join forces, realign their parties, or maybe even become rivals. Their fates are left entirely in the hands of the players.

Characters will begin at first level, but players will not be creating characters entirely from scratch. A large roster of predefined character roles designed specifically for this storytelling-oriented game will be the only positions available to join this game. Players who are accepted into the game, based on their willingness to compromise and their enthusiasm to play in this type of game, will work closely with the DM to create the kind of character they want to play while working out the details that will ground the character firmly into the setting and the storyline. There will still be plenty of combat and dice-rolling in this campaign, but expect more than a fair amount of roleplaying and writing, too.

This game is not for everyone. The style of play is very deliberate and detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on team play, story telling, and role playing, but without sacrificing the tactical and mechanical aspects of the game. Battles are fought out in detail, often involving unique developments and real role playing opportunities between all the dice rolling to create a more exciting, cinematic style of play. In short, this campaign does not favor one style of play over another, but embraces all the best aspects of every style to create what is hoped to be a truly unique role playing experience.
