Can't Be Saved: D&D 4E
Game Description
Can't Be Saved
The Great Devourer Dakuwanga has roamed the world, from sea to sky, since time immemorial. Sightings of Dakuwanga are considered auspicious, the Great Shark is told in legends to come for the spirits of the beloved dead, and carry them to their final reward.
At the core of the Great Devourer, however, is a terrible truth.
Megalodonia.
What started as a few survivors clinging to the wreckage of their civilization has accumulated over millennia into something collossal in the belly of the Celestial Devourer. Escape was impossible, but survival was achievable within the God-Shark, and with each feeding the civilization grew. A pastiche of ruins, Megalodonia has grown into a sprawling metropolis to rival any on
the planes.Demolition is both not reccomended and foolhardy, as the populous never knows if removing one defunct component will send the entire strata spiralling to destruction. As such the city is constantly building on top of itself using whatever Dakuwanga devours next.
Most citizens have made their peace with their fate within the Shark's belly. Terrible stories of the fate of those that attempt to escape saturate their culture, and as a result very few are willing to risk digestion or mastication for their freedom, given the uncertain conditions outside of Dakuwanga. Could they survive the great pressures beneath the sea, or the fall from a great height? How does one prepare for hazards they don't even know about? Even those that use High Magic to escape, often feel a pull to return that passes down to their descendants. Who knows what riches lie hidden within the ancient city?
From the highest towers to the lowest barrows, only one constant exists in the chondrichthyan city.
Struggle.
Five heroes, aligned by circumstance, will carve out their place in this world. Wresting control of an ancient ruin beneath the city proper, they will foray into the buried foundation of the undercity to piece together an ancient covenant. Simple survival isn't enough: Anything has to be better.
