Fringe: International is the story of a team of investigators of Fringe Events and funded by an agency unaffiliated with any government, willing to send its people anywhere super-science is being practiced in dangerous ways.
SPOILER ALERT
You've been hired by a mysterious agency for field work in what they only refer to as Fringe Events. Why you've been chosen varies from individual to individual. Expert knowledge, survival tactics, diplomacy... these are all valid reasons. More so, though, is your connection to these events.
Cortexiphan was just one of hundreds of experimental drugs that have fallen victim to espionage and replication; though without the knowledge of what was being sought, the testing was disappointing. Clinical testing across a wide selection of people, across multiple ages, genders, backgrounds and conditions, ultimately led to no tangible results - not without the training.
At least, not immediately.
Deemed a failure, the company disbanded the research and eventually was bought out by another company. Records of the participants in the drug trials were largely lost. When the effects took root in a small number, though, there was nobody to call to figure out what was happening and nobody able to coordinate a search for all involved.
Except someone took a good shot at it. You were one of those who participated in the trials or closely related. Perhaps you gained strange abilities, perhaps not. Either way, the offer on the table was good enough to entice you into joining. Welcome to Fringe: International.
