From the Depths: The First Epoch
Welcome to the Dungeons & Dragons 5e spin-off from Lords of Creation: From the Depths!
Introduction: In this game, you will play a small band of humans living as hunter-gatherers at a Stone Age level of technology. But with magic, and in an age of myth when the gods still walk the world on a daily basis.
This game is intended as a one-off, in which these characters will have only this one adventure. Future games will be set in later Epochs of the world as it develops in the main game. If we all have a good time, and we want to find out what happens next to these characters, then I may revisit that plan. Even if I don’t, though, I’ve always intended for there to be a generational element (as in Pendragon) to these games, so even if you never play this particular character again, you may play his or her distant descendant, and the achievements of
this character may impact the world in which future generations live.
Starting level is 1, race is limited to human, and there are restrictions and tweaks to class and background to reflect the setting. You will be starting with no equipment, and will have to make, scrounge, or steal whatever you need.
My expectations: Most PbP games develop a rhythm, but at the outset I’d like to see posting from players at least 3 times a week under normal circumstances. I reserve the right to move the story along at any point if it flags, including assuming that your character goes along with what other characters have decided. In combat, if it’s your turn, you have 24 hours in which to post, or else I reserve the right to NPC your character.
