For the first time in millennia a Giant's Moot has been called by the Storm King. For thousands of years, the tribes have been content to rule themselves with chieftains and jarls, yet in the old days of Ostoria, the giants were ruled by a High King, the Titan Lanaxis and each of the giant tribes was also ruled by a King of their type.
A Storm Giant calling himself High King of the Giants has called a gathering and compelled by ancient traditions laid down by the All-Father, the Giants come. They come to discuss the war raging among the wee folk. Of the flights of Red dragons laying waste and turning the sky black with smoke. They come to discuss rumors that the world serpent stirs.
The invaders. Gates opened all across Faerun at strategic sites. Red Dragons and airships containing armed humanoids flew through in great numbers, every night for the past two ten-days.
Major temples across the Realms were struck that first night and burned to the ground. Survivors report dragons, always red, raining fire down from the skies. The world burns and the sky blackens with smoke. Visibility is at all time low. Denizens of the Underdark have taken this opportunity to rise to the surface and drow have been seen fighting alongside the invaders.
* Waterdeep is besieged.
* Shadowdale is protected by a shimmering barrier of arcane might while the rest of the dale lands burn.
* Aglarond has not yet been attacked and seems to be held in check in a sort of cold war state with Thay.
* Small settlements too many to mention are either burned off the map or have become armed garrisons for the invaders.
