Adventures in Faerûn
The 5e 2024 sourcebook Adventures in Faerûn contains a series of one shots that takes adventurers all over the Realms. Some of the one shots focus on a particular location. Others are faction or deity-based. They range from level 1 all the way up to level 13.
We'll start with the level 1 adventure The Curse on Humble Hill but if everyone is invested we can proceed to other one shots and do as many as we want. :) I've chosen Humble Hill for the first one shot, but I think I'll have players vote on all subsequent one shots that we do.
Please do not request to join the game. Invites will be sent after players are chosen. Thank you!
Here is some basic info about the game:
Rules: Dungeons & Dragons 5.5e (2024)
Sources: All 2024 sources are allowed including the new Heroes of Faerûn book. Races/species from Monsters of the Multiverse are allowed if they don't have a 2024 version yet, but you won't use the racial attribute modifiers. 2014 subclasses are allowed if they haven't been updated for 2024 yet. No UA or homebrew classes to keep things simpler for me.
Level: Starting at level 1 with potential to go to level 13.
Equipment: You can choose either your starting equipment OR gold. If you want you could keep the starting equipment from your class but choose gold for your background or vice versa.
Advancement: Milestone. Characters will advance a level after each one-shot.
HP: Max to start and then you may choose to roll OR take the average after that.
Attributes: You may choose to roll 4d6, drop the lowest, re-roll 1's once. If you don't like your roll, you can do 27 point buy instead.
Multiclassing: You may multiclass once if you wish.
RAW or ROC: I lean more toward RAW, but ROC is not completely out of the question. Sometimes you have to follow the spirit of the law more than the letter.
Role or Roll-Play: Balanced. These one-shots contain a decent amount of combat encounters, but I enjoy roleplay, exploration and mysteries/puzzles.
Combat: To keep combat from bogging down and getting too slow in the PBP format, I will roll initiative for everyone. Initiative will not be chunked, BUT players may post in any order rather than waiting on someone else, and I will resolve all character turns in initiative order. Also, for most enemies, I will reveal certain attributes such as AC or HP as necessary so you won't have to wait around for me to know whether you hit or killed something. We will use Owlbear Rodeo for maps.
Posting Rate: I will strive to post at least two updates a week and to be even more active during any combat encounters. I'll also use posting deadlines (typically 3 days) to let players know when they should post by. These deadlines can of course be flexible if real life stuff comes up, but please let me know.
