Age of Worms

“What's worse than biting into an apple and finding a worm? Come and find out! This will be the Age of Worms adventure path from Dungeon magazine set in the World of Greyhawk and adapted for the D&D 2024 ruleset.”

Create your character in your application thread and work on it there; the Characters forum will be for accepted characters.  I'd prefer you change the title to something along the lines of:  Name, Race Class (ie. Brutal Bob, Human Fighter) once you've figured out who you'll be.  You can mark it as a "Work in Progress" or just leave the status blank, but when you're ready, mark it as "Ready for Review" and ping me with a mention and I'll take a look.

Deadline:  Currently set for Monday, August 18th at 11:59 EDT.  If I don't have a good pool of applicants at that point I'll consider extending it, maybe until Thursday or Friday.  I don't really anticipate this being the case though.

Format:  Application can be formatted however you want as long as I can read it and find the requested information.  If accepted I will want you to have a Myth Weaver's sheet attached to the game and keep it up to date.

Setting:  World of Greyhawk

Sourcebooks Allowed:  Any official sourcebook by Wizards of the Coast that got a hard cover release.  If it's setting specific (Faerun, Ravnica, Wildemount, etc.) it'll need to be refluffed; Spelljammer, while technically encompassing Greyhawk, would need a bit of work to fit the campaign as well.  If something appears in multiple sourcebooks then we will be using the most recent version; 2024 rules supersede 2014.

Starting Level:  First

Attributes:  Point Buy or 4d6 drop the lowest.  You can roll two sets of stats and choose the one you prefer.  If you don't like either set you can still do Point Buy.

HP:  Max at first level, roll or average afterwards.  You can roll for some levels and take the average for others if you wish.  If you roll you get what you rolled, but can re-roll the first 1 or 2.

Species:  Those permitted in allowed Sourcebooks.  If it doesn't have a 2024 treatment we can consider how to adapt it; drop the stat increases and abilities that grant spells can be cast using spell slots with a chosen spellcasting ability at minimum.

Classes: Those found in allowed Sourcebooks.

Subclasses:  Those found in allowed Sourcebooks.  I'd like an idea of where you plan to go but won't hold you to it if something happens in play to change it (or you just change your mind...)  Non-2024 classes will delay receiving any subclass abilities until third level; I think that covers most conversions, we can handle anything else as it comes up.

Backgrounds:  Largely those found in allowed Sourcebooks.  Don't use (or ask me about) anything that adds spells (mostly the setting specific books like Strixhaven and Ravnica) or feats outside those listed as Origin Feats.  Also not going to use Dragonmarks or Dark Gifts.  You can customize as per the Player's Handbook.  If your chosen background doesn't give an Origin Feat, you can pick one and we can talk about how much gold you get if you don't take your background equipment (probably 50).  Older 5e background features won't be used.

Feats:  Allowed from permitted Sourcebooks

Alignment:  Given the dark fantasy setting and the nature of Diamond Lake, I'm willing to consider any as long as you can work in a group.  You'll probably get more scrutiny about how you plan on running your character if you choose evil.  Also, keep in mind, the trajectory of the campaign is ultimately heroic, though I suppose even evil characters have reasons to want to prevent a world ending catastrophe.  The world is where they keep their stuff, and where the folks they might want to exploit, oppress, and/or dominate live, after all.

Equipment:  You can sell any unwanted equipment for cost during character creation.

Description:  A paragraph or so.  A picture would be nice (I'll be wanting at least something for a token if you're accepted).

Personality:  Again, a paragraph or so.

Background:  A few paragraphs (two or three is plenty).  While I'll entertain the idea of newcomers, you're generally presumed to have grown up in, or at least formed a deep connection with, Diamond Lake, make sure you develop that.  Even if you are a newcomer, let me know what brought you here.  Give me some connections you've formed there.  I'll work with accepted players to deepen those and give a bit more insider information.
