Application Format

To submit an application, please read through the pages in the Resources tab, then start an application in this forum with the following information about your character:

Title

The title should look like this: [First Name] [Last Name (if any)], [Race/Species] [Background] [Class]

1. First Post

Character Sheet:

Please link a Myth Weavers character sheet for your level 1 character. You do not need to include gold or equipment or any other information that appears elsewhere on your application.

Character Name and Pronouns:

All pronouns, genders, and sexualities are welcome.

Include any titles, epithets, nicknames, etc. that the character uses.

Age:

Characters must be at least 18 years old.

Race/Species:

Include sub-race/species if applicable.

Class:

Include sub-class if applicable.

Background:

As per the Player's Handbook, you may create a custom background.

Characteristics:

Provide the following as defined in the Player's Handbook:

• 2 Personality Traits

• 2 Ideals

• 1 Bond

• 1 Flaw

Description:

Describe your character's appearance, mannerisms, and personality. You can also include things like the reputation of or rumors about the character.

Additionally, please attach an image of your character.

Backstory:

At a minimum, your character's backstory should explain 1) how they gained their skills and abilities, 2) how they came to be in Ghalasine (and where in Ghalasine), and 3) why they would be willing and able to undertake an adventure to save the kingdom.

You can also include any connections to existing or original NPCs or the various groups and factions in Ghalasine.

Quote:

Write an in-character quote or scene here. A sentence or two will suffice; over 1000 words is too long.

[Optional Sections]

These last three sections are optional. I will not penalize anyone for omitting them, but they might make your application stand out.

Song:

Share what your character sounds like, musically. Provide up to three links to Youtube videos showcasing the music you’ve chosen to represent your character. Alternatively, you may give the names of songs and/or artists, or a more general genre or style of music.

Rival:

When I think of rivals I think of René Belloq, Gary Oak, Newman, Sharpay Evans, or Mr. Wickham. Who these rivals are and how they oppose their respective main characters says a lot about those main characters.

Keys from the Golden Vault suggests giving the party a rival crew. I do not plan to include a rival crew in every adventure of this campaign, but I think it could be fun to have them pop up every so often and cause trouble for the PCs.

Do you want your character to have a specific rival? It could be someone from their backstory or it could be someone they meet during one of the adventures.

Include here any other information you think I should know about your character.

2. Second Post

In the second post of your application, please account for your character's starting equipment and gold.

You should also state here if your character has borrowed or stolen up to 100 Gp of additional starting gold, and, if so, from whom.

Optionally, you may also include a magic item wishlist for your character. If your character is chosen for this game, I will make sure those items come across their path at the appropriate level, most likely by giving them to enemies.

3. Optional Third Post

Optionally, you can make a third post in your application with a posting template for your character. It does not need to be exactly like the one in my sample application, but it should include your character's name at a minimum. I would prefer that all of the information that appears on the character sheet to be easily accessible.

Guidelines and Support

• I have provided a sample character application that meets all of my requirements.

• If you are ready for me to review your application, please indicate so by marking it Ready for Review. Once I have reviewed it I will reply with questions or mark the application as approved. I plan to accept up to seven applications at the end of the advertisement period from the approved applications.

• I will use the following criteria when making the final selection of characters:

  • Application follows all the instructions above and on the Additional Character Creation Information page.

  • Writing is clear and readable.

  • Character image and application formatting are visually appealing.

  • Character fits the setting factually and tonally. This does not mean you need a super intricate backstory for your character.

  • Character is compatible with already-selected party members, if any.
