Phantasy and Photons Playtest

400 years ago, Dark Falz was finally slain, freeing Algol from its menace. Yet it’s kindred, the D-Cellular Sub Lifeforms called the Falspawn still exist, corrupting the known Cosmos. To combat this threat, the civilizations of Algol founded the Alliance of Words, an interstellar federation dedicated to providing a secure post-scarcity society for its citizenship. With photon technology, their Guardian Fleet provides scientific, diplomatic, and ecumenical infrastructure for their worlds in both the Core and the Frontier.
You are fresh recruits in the Allied Recon Knight Squads, ARKS, an elite exploratory and security division responsible for investigating new planets, making contact with new civilizations, and engaging threats to the Known Cosmos. Hailing from different species, cultures, and walks of life, you are united in the mission of preserving the Alliance. But first, you must pass the last exam to receive your licenses at the Trania VR Facility:
“ARKS recruits assigned to simulation program ARKS.EXAM554@TRANIA: Please report to Axiom 36 at 800 Hours Redria.”
What?
This is a homebrew based on Phantasy Star and it is NOT the TTRPG by Sky Dawn. Everything from classes, to backgrounds, to items, to the species is homebrewed to hell and back. The overall point of this game is to test just how well the new mechanics work, how they don’t, and…-most importantly-…is it fun?

I explained it the best I could. I’m looking for 4 players to apply with Level 1 Characters using the classes, backgrounds, and species provided in the Resources section of the game. There is also a Setting Primer, a guide to some of the new mechanics, and a statement attempting to better explain my insanity.
The premise is that you will play recruits taking a final exam. The exam itself is a virtual reality scenario. That’s right, you are playing a game within a game. Clever innit? I bet no one ever thought of that before! Well your characters will be graded based on how well they do in this scenario. Dying is not necessarily an automatic failure. Completing the bare minimum requested will not necessarily be a complete success.
Application Requirements
Your experience with DND, 5e and 5.5e specifically. The materials in this playtest will assume extensive prior knowledge about both systems. New players may be lost or confused.
How familiar are you with the Phantasy Star series? Zero knowledge is fine…I just would like to know for the purposes of assessing your experiences.
A Level 1 Character Build using the Standard Array for Ability Scores. Do not worry about listing equipment as you will be using simulated Almati gear.
Go ahead and include the bells and whistles for a regular app: Backstory, personality, the works. Conjure planets and star systems as you wish.
“How do I character sheet?” Use the standard sheet on the site and include the additional features in the traits and features section.
I’m aware of the formatting errors and I will try to remedy them as I encounter them.
