Star Wars: Dawn of Defiance

It has been 2 years since the end of the Clone Wars and the destruction of the Jedi Order. The Galactic Republic, now known as the Galactic Empire, has crushed the remaining holdouts of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and begun to establish Emperor Palpatine's New Order across the galaxy. Fear has begun to take hold of the Empire's denizens as Imperial Stormtroopers begin to appear in cities and spaceports, visible symbols of the Emperor's will.

Yet not all is lost. Scattered throughout the galaxy like stars in the night sky, resistance to the Emperor's oppression begins to burn. Some are Separatists who have not yet given up the cause, or perhaps criminals who find the Empire's reach interfering in their operations. Others are those who would see the restoration of the Galactic Republic, or those who had never given thought to rebellion until the Empire made it personal. Some may even be fugitive Jedi, on the run from Imperial forces, hiding their identities even as they seek ways to fight back against the shadow the Dark Side has cast over the galaxy.

In orbit above the Core World of Brentaal sits Sel Zonn Station, where one such star has begun to burn...

Hello, and welcome to the Dawn of Defiance! Dawn of Defiance is a series of connected, published adventures from Wizards of the Coast for the Star Wars: Saga Edition RPG. It takes players on a planet hopping adventure all the way from level 1 to level 20 as they strike some early blows against Imperial tyranny. I'm looking for 6 players to undertake this adventure - are you one of them?

This adventure is very much for those who want to play characters that are opposed to the Empire. While I understand the appeal of playing the Imperial sympathizer, undercover Imperial spy, or dark side disciple working for the Emperor, this is not the campaign for those characters. A more mercenary character is acceptable - after all, Han Solo was only in it for the money in A New Hope - but we do hope they'd eventually come around to fully supporting the cause eventually. We're also generally looking for characters who skew more towards the Light side. That's not to say characters can't be a little dark - Andor showed that even in a rebellion based on higher ideals, there are those who need to do the dirty work - but full on darksiders are not the right fit for this campaign.

As far as posting expectations, I'm going to try and post in Gameplay twice a week, and I'd like players to do the same. If I make a post on Monday, I'll generally try to make another on Thursday. I don't typically have time to post on weekends - if I make a post and don't have time to make a second one during the week, a GM post will wait till Monday. I will announce if this is the case. If at least four players have posted when I'm ready to make a GM post, I will make the GM post - if less than 4 have posted, I will tag those who have not posted and give a 24-hour notice. Once those 24 hours are up, I will then make the next post. If we're in combat and you haven't yet posted your character's actions for that round, I will have them spend the round taking the Total Defense action.

If I will be away for any length of time, I will notify the players accordingly, and expect the players to notify myself and the other players in turn if they will be away for any length of time.

Canon/Legends Continuity: For the most part, this campaign will rely on what is now known as Legends continuity. It was written before Disney acquired Lucasfilm and the Star Wars property, so it has some references to Legends materials that makes using the Legends continuity easier. That being said, the Legends continuity does include the Prequel Trilogy and both animated Clone Wars TV series, so there is some overlap. Additionally, the Star Wars galaxy is a big place, so if you have to make up some minor details about the galaxy for your character, there's usually enough room to do so.

If this all sounds like something you're okay with, welcome! If not, no hard feelings, and I hope you find a game that fits your expectations and style.
