Playground 10: Against the Clock

Solstice again, and it's best to be prepared. The town of Sandhur has a strange tradition on this day - an involuntary one.
Ever since the wizards at the academy built Grandmother, the arcane engine capable of channeling incredibly potent magic at high precision, Sandhur has been on the map. And after that engine broke down, Sandhur has been all over the map. And the calendar. Adrift in space and time, referenced in history books past, present, and future as a legend, spun into myth.
It isn't a myth though, the town is quite real, and you're stuck here. Even if you weren't one of the students or faculty, even if you weren't originally one of the town's citizens, you're stuck here. You were in the town when it began one of its jumps, and now you're anchored to a city without an anchor of its own.
This is no sleepy village, though, oh no. A town full of magic and mischief is never dull, and there's no shortage of new characters turning up, the unlucky mixed with the desperate and foolish who didn't heed the warnings and will soon be trapped here with you.
Midnight. The hands on Grandmother's massive clock face spin to and fro however they please. The snow starts to fall up. The stars wheel and whirl overhead. When and where will you be tomorrow? If you stay sharp, there may be a way to benefit from the new world you'll be in. If you're the sharpest of all, there may be a way to get home...
This is a freeform roleplaying game and an exercise in collaborative storytelling and setting creation. While there are some rules, you're otherwise free to play whatever fantasy character you want and shape the world as you see fit. We call it the Playground System because it was designed for play-by-post games on these boards. There is no winning. There is no Game Master to tell you whether you succeed or fail. You'll get out of the game whatever you put in.
There are Moderators (Jadetarem, DarkOne6989, Nefarion_Xid). Our job is to arbitrate and to make sure no one runs amok, but we don't have any special power over the story or the setting. That's up to everyone.
