Welcome to Playground 10: The Will of Heaven, the tenth iteration of the freeform rpg system first pioneered on the giantitp forums. As a participant in Playground, you have the opportunity to build both a character and the world around them, with the ultimate goal of telling stories in the environment we have built together. There is no GM - the stories told in Playground are the result of player initiative, collaboration, and at times allowing other players to alter the state of your creations.

Each Playground game has chosen a genre to help guide the flavor of what players introduce, and Playground 10 is intended for characters and stories inspired by China’s wuxia and xianxia literary traditions. While this encompasses a huge range of media that western players may not be familiar with, touchstones that are either directly of the genre or inspired by it include Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero, Kung-Fu Panda, Avatar the Last Airbender, Thunderbolt Fantasy, Into the Badlands, Jade Empire, and Where Winds Meet. Please don’t worry about genre purity - many of us, including yours truly, are approaching this from the perspective of English-speaking enthusiasts. However, there is an expectation that we will all engage respectfully with the tropes and expectations of the genre.
