Pulp World - 1920s Mystery Adventures
You have arrived at a rain-slick alleyway behind a condemned tenement on Delancey Street, in the Bowery District; its midnight.
Waiting for you is your "friend" Sam Bradley, better known as "Slam" for his rough style of investigation. Wearing a socking wet fedora and trenchcoat he greets you in his peculiar Cleveland accent, "Welcome to the Bowery."
The Bowery is "skid-row", but it wasn't always like this. At one time it was the birthplace of this city, or New Amsterdam as it was known back in those days. Slam fills you in: "This building was last a mission house in the later 1800s, but that didn't last long. The ownership has traded hands so often, due to suicides, and now it belongs to no one; yet everyone who needs a place to stay says they own it."
Slam walks you down into the basement of the building where the walls, floor and ceiling are all covered in graffiti. It is a dark basement with no access to natural light or electricity. Candles can be found scattered about all over the place, and a few are lit when you arrive. You approach a man giving his back to you as he stares at the floor. Slam introduces you, "This is Detective Corrigan, he called me in so I called you in."
Detective Corrigan gives you a considerate stare and he points to a body laying on the floor a few feet away, "You know this man?"
Hello and Welcome. "Who killed . . . ?" is a murder mystery story set in New York City in the DC Universe in 1927. Players will take on the personas of original characters appropriate to the time period to embark on a quest to solve the murder of a friend. The murder victim will remain unknown until the story begins.
All interested players should apply with a "Character Pitch" first. Your submission should be no longer than a couple of paragraphs to cover the basics: name, occupation, personality, brief background, etc... Please include a picture as well. I am more interested in the character than the game mechanics, but I do not need a lengthy and/or detailed backstory to make my decision.
After we have discuss your character's backstory and potential build I will ask you to build them using the Mutants and Masterminds 3e system with a PL6 and 100 PP to flesh them out. At this moment no build is off-limits, but I do reserve the right to change my mind if it doesn't fit the story; granted that will be long before the story begins so you will have plenty of time to alter your concept.
