Research Station Gamma

A Classic Traveller adventure in the Spinward Marches of the Third Imperium. Rescue raid/exploration and investigation of mysterious place type scenario.

The rules set is the Classic Traveller game as revised in 1980.

You can get these rules free in a facsimile edition on DriveThruRPG, but players do not need to read the rulebooks in order to play.

 

 

CHARGEN:

Traveller is fairly simple. You have a Universal Personality Profile, or six item stat block

ENDURANCE

 

DEXTERITY

 

INTELLIGENCE

 

EDUCATION

 

SOCIAL STANDING

 

2D6 for each stat.

 

 

 

Characters thus generated go through a series of career terms in 4-year blocks. Yes, it is possible for bad luck to kill a guy during this lifepath phase. Each term grants skill rolls on tables. You choose the table, but the roll determines the particular skill or bonus gained.

When you are done, either because the rolls indicate you have to stop or because you choose to stop, your check to see if your guy suffered any aging losses (mid 30s on) and you roll for some bennies and cash.

 

Add some gear and you are done.

Characters easily fit in index cards.

 

And I have pregens, so there's no need to roll a guy up if you prefer to just take what's on offer.

Pregens #3 and #6 have been claimed.

 

There are also free web tools for character generation, if you like.

Note: I am not using extended generation from later books, just the classic Book 1 rules. Short and simple!

 

Gameplay:

 

You know the drill. I describe the scene. You tell me what your guy or gal is doing.

A 'Saving Throw' or simply a 'Throw' is the standard roll of 2d6, possibly with a Dice Modifier or DM applied. Higher is better. You'll use this for skills and ability checks as called for by the Referee.

Weapon damages are variable. Combat is fairly deadly. I will provide the fan made files for 'combat cards' that record all the tables' info, the simple math already done for you. You just look at the range and armor type, and you will see the target number you must roll to get a solid hit.

 

 

Pacing

 

I'd like to keep it moving pretty quickly, with a preferred update rate of twice a week.
