Riders of the Apocalypse

A high level dark fantasy campaign filled with horror and humour where long dead heroes rise again to serve a dark power to save worlds from another more sinister fate. Evil powers clash for dominance leaving whole worlds forced to bear the burden of being a battleground for a final apocalypse.

But where are the gods I hear you ask, well it is long past their help. It is a time of reckoning, the end of worlds... the very fabric of the multiverse is tearing apart allowing creatures from the darkest depths of chaos and the nine hells to emerge after an eternity of waiting. It is a time of despair where mortals who have not been saved by the Gods are left to fend for themselves.. and the dead are rising from their graves.

As fate would have it, seven lost souls have been raised from the dead in accordance with some ancient agreement to act as 'Riders of the Apocalypse' to herald the end for the mortals. But who are these seven lost souls and what is their purpose in all this Chaos...

DnD 5.5 2024 rules in effect

This is a game for 7 anti-heroes, or heroes depending on your personal point of view, who have lived and then died.... and then rise again at the end of days.

Character creation guidelines

There is something ... a reason your character has been chosen to rise again at the end of days. God knows why... Selected players will arise with a new undead template to be advised by the DM prior to game start.

• Character Setting: You may be from any world at a time of your choosing prior to this game

• Level 7, multi-classing allowed

• Stats: roll 4d6 reroll 1's and drop lowest dice, seven times and choose 6 stats.

• Races, small / medium sized humanoids only

• Classes, any...

• Hit points, maximum

• Equipment, only what you can wear and carry in a coffin when you died

• Magic items available by request, DM to consider, ignore or add item's as appropriate. Everyone gets 1 awesome item and maybe a few lesser items to consider.

1st post : Please include the following build template provided by the DM

2nd post : Background, personality, requested gear and magic items

3rd post : A proposed game post including your cameo appearance with appropriate picture and description prior to your death. Ie what you looked like in your prime time in life. This can be in any format you choose with a link to your sheet...

Background - You can be from any world genre from any time in the past, provide a brief overview outlining the history of your character.

Please include the following

• What if anything was written on your gravestone.

• What kind of world did you live in, was it a time of troubles... what kind of things troubled your character at the time

• You were a hero or anti-hero, whose deeds for good or worse have been counted, weighed and measured by the Gods. What were those deeds and what are / were your motivations.

• Did you die with any regrets... or were you content at the time of your death.

• What was your favourite most cherished memory.

• Who or what was the adversary you feared the most, and why.

• Who was your closest friend and ally in your previous life.

Personality - a brief overview of any additional quirks you may have. You may use bullet points without going in to lots of detail
