CHARACTER CREATION (SUMMARY)
We use the Chronicles of the Underworld rules. Characters are called Protagonists. Players should have access to the rulebook; ask in the OOC thread if you need help with anything.
1. Choose an Archetype.
2. Attributes. Distribute 4 points among BODY, MIND, SOCIAL, and SPIRIT (0–3 each).
3. Skills. Choose 4 Skills, each tied to an Attribute.
4. Advantages. Choose 4 Advantages. Your Archetype's universal Gifts come free and don't use these slots.
5. Disadvantage. Choose 1 personal Disadvantage. Your Archetype's Shackles come built in. Invoking your Disadvantage is how you earn Experience, so pick one you'll enjoy suffering from.
6. Relationships. Define three: one with another Protagonist, one Ally, and one Antagonist. I'll work with you to connect them to the city.
7. The rest. 6 Injury boxes, 6 Fatigue boxes, 4 Flashback boxes, Level 1. Write a Motivation, a Description, and your Inventory.
How dice work. Rolls are 2d6 + Attribute. 10+ is a clean success, 7–9 is success with a cost or complication, and 6 or less means things get worse. Roll using the Myth-Weavers dice roller in the post where you act, and label the roll (e.g., "Stealth, BODY").
Character guidelines:
POSTING EXPECTATIONS
Pace. I aim (hope?) to post as GM at least once every day. Players should post at least every 72 hours during an active scene, and more often is welcome. If you're in a slow scene or waiting on others, that's fine; just keep an eye on the thread. If necessary, new or solo threads will be created to accomodate writing styles and posting pace.
Absences. Life happens. Please post a quick note in the OOC thread if you'll be away more than a few days. If you haven't posted in 72 hours in an active scene without notice, I may move the scene forward around you. After 7 days, I may NPC your character lightly until you're back.
Post length. Quality over quantity. One to four solid paragraphs is typical. Give the other players something to react to.
Style.
APPLYING
To apply, post in the recruitment thread with:
- Your character's name, Archetype, and a one-paragraph concept — or the pregenerated Protagonist you'd like to claim.
- Why your character is in San Francisco in March 2028, and why they care about Kitty (even if the answer is "they want her gone").
- One thing your character is hiding, and from whom.
- A short sample post in character (a paragraph or two), your character alone at night somewhere in the city.

CHARACTER CREATION (SUMMARY)
We use the Chronicles of the Underworld rules. Characters are called Protagonists. Players should have access to the rulebook; ask in the OOC thread if you need help with anything.
1. Choose an Archetype.
- Cursed One (Vampire) — Living Aspect (walks by day, fragile) or Extinct Aspect (truly dead, truly powerful, bound to the night).
- Lycanthrope — Wolf-kin, bound by blood to a pack or surviving as a Lone Wolf.
- Kheperi — A shapeshifter with a hidden second nature, bound by the Code of Maat.
- Magika — A practitioner: choose a Source of Power and a Practice (Necromancy, Illusionism, Runology, and more).
- Hunter — Human, marked by a Rupture that showed them the truth.
2. Attributes. Distribute 4 points among BODY, MIND, SOCIAL, and SPIRIT (0–3 each).

Character guidelines:
- All Protagonists must be adults (18+).
- Protagonists begin living in, or newly arrived in, San Francisco, with a reason to care what happens next.
- Characters don't need to start as friends. They do need a reason to cross paths — Kitty, the anniversary weekend, a case, a debt, a body, a secret.
- Your character does not know who Kitty is. Neither does anyone else. Please don't write her into your backstory.
Pregenerated Protagonists (available to claim)
These characters were built for the campaign and may be claimed by a player. Full sheets are available on request.
- Nadia Haddad — Kheperi (cat-form) private investigator in North Beach. Capable, solitary, and very good at finding people who don't want to be found. Something happens to her when she lets anyone get close.
- Jonah Halvorsen — Lone Wolf lycanthrope, repo man, exiled from the Headlands Pack. Quiet, patient, handsome, and hiding a secret the whole internet wants to know.
- Ninva Benyamin — Kheperi sommelier at a Nob Hill restaurant. Magnetic and successful, with a love life that never survives the second date — and no idea why.
- Dr. Elias Crane — Cursed One physician, turned in the 1906 earthquake, runs a free night clinic in the Tenderloin and serves the Circle out of an old debt.
- Lenore Quiambao — 19-year-old goth necromancer working the night shift at the Medical Examiner's office while studying pre-med. The dead talk to her. Her supervisor has noticed.

Style.
- Third person, past tense.
- Speech in bold or a consistent color of your choice; thoughts in italics.
- Put out-of-character comments in OOC tags.
• Don't write other players' characters' actions, dialogue, or feelings without permission.
• Scenes may split. Characters will often be in different parts of the city, in different threads, at different times of night. That's intended. - IC (In-Character) — the game itself. Keep it in character.
- OOC (Out-of-Character) — questions, planning, absences, banter.
- Kitty's Broadcast Log — transcripts or summaries of each weekend's show (when it is relevant or important), posted by the GM. Your characters can listen along.
- Sex is fade-to-black. The story can acknowledge it happened and what it means; the post doesn't depict it.
- Hard lines: no sexual content involving minors in any form; no sexual violence depicted (but may be referenced).
- Lines and veils: Tell me privately or in OOC about anything you don't want in the game (a line) or only want off-screen (a veil). I'll respect them without asking why.
- X-card: Anyone can post OOCX at any time to remove or rewind content, no explanation needed.
- Characters can be cruel. Players may not be. Keep OOC friendly.
Threads.
