Skull and Shackles: Plunder & Peril
The Shackles are a corner of Golarion ruled by the Hurricane King, a king of pirates elected by a council of Free Captains. His domain is formed of a large part of the land on the edge of the Mwangi Expanse as well as a great deal of islands in the Fever Sea. The community, if it could be called one, is one of pirates, runaway criminals, escaped slaves and the buyers and sellers of all manner of illicit goods. Of course, even here, some laws do exist, though they are more of a ...guideline. Violating the few sacred traditions is up to the Free Captains to punish - you're as just as likely to get a cutlass in your guts as you are to be introduced to Johnny Ketch... Or maybe rewarded for looking the other way. All manner of folks thrive out here, and the history's as jungles of Motaku. Reaching back before Earthfall, there are ruins of the ancient Ghol-Gan Cyclopi empire, traces of their war with the Serpentfolk still scars upon the land. Ruins the sort of which you're more likely to not come back from - but in the offchance... Well, if you've got Besmara's own luck and a crew with more greed than fear, and the winds of Sky Father himself in your sails, mayhaps you'll carve out your own legend, like Jenna Reclaw or the first Hurricane King. Or maybe you'll be like the rest of the fools who tried and get carved up instead? Who knows!
Welcome to the Skull & Shackles Adventure Path, where piracy is the rule, and plunder and infamy fill the seas of Golarion! If you're read this far, then you, like me, are a fan of adventures on the high seas where sea-beasts lurk below and above you are either pirate or prey. Due to multiple reasons, in this iteration of the adventure path, multiple things will be altered - those of you who have experienced some of the adventure will see new things added and some removed. The start will be similar, but after a while, things will change. The story begins as your characters find themselves the unwilling members of a pirate crew, and that is where your odyssey will begin.
