The Hollow Covenant

GM Mairu · 0 players

As human kingdoms expand, their armies, adventurers, and mercenaries have ravaged the wilds, leaving only scattered remnants of once-mighty tribes. Now, deep within the Wealdath, a gathering has been called. A covenant must be forged, uniting unlikely allies. Through blood, cunning, and sheer will, the players must carve a place for themselves in a world that seeks to erase them, or die trying.

The year is 1369 DR. After two decades of bloody civil war, Tethyr has emerged reborn, its throne stabilized and its influence expanding. To the north, Amn thrives like never before, its coffers overflowing with gold and plunder from Maztica, and its trade routes bustling from the Sword Coast to the Shining Sea. Wealth has brought power—more soldiers to patrol the roads, more mercenaries for hire, and more adventurers eager to carve their names into legend. But prosperity for the humans has meant ruin for others.

The creatures of the Wealdath and the Small Teeth Mountains have borne the weight of this new order. Monstrous tribes, savage packs or unhallow cults alike have felt their hunting grounds have withered under the march of civilization, their kin slain or driven from ancestral lands. Every attempt at resistance has been crushed beneath the relentless advance of human armies, disciplined, ruthless, and unyielding. Not one tribe, warband, or lone warlock has been able to defy the grinding juggernaut of their conquest and live to tell the tale.

That is why they have come. Drawn by whispers, old grudges, and the raw will to survive, warbands, exiles, and outcasts now gather deep in the heart of the Wealdath, within the hollowed core of an ancient and gnarled tree. The ones who do not make themselves deaf to the drumbeats of fate have chosen to heed the invitation. This is no mere meeting, it is a last chance. The time for solitary struggle has passed. Now, they must forge something greater, an alliance, a pact, a covenant sealed in blood and vengeance. Alone, they will perish. Together, they might yet stand a chance.
