The Monster that Ate Christmas / A Claus for Concern
The Monster that Ate Christmas / A Clause for Concern. Holiday 2 shot.
A Humorous Holiday Horror game based on free modules from GM Guild/Drive-Thru-Rpg, spiced with creatures and items from other sources.
Humorous Horror? Rabid Reindeer, Cranberry Oozes, Human Sacrifices to the Naughty List…
Posting frequency: daily to every other day. I’m on Bangkok time, opposite US EST, so I'll probably be cycling with the players.
Setting: Generic fantasy with Christmas Elves and Whos.
Set up: You get lost in a sudden blizzard and end up in Who-ville, whose mayor is expecting heroes to solve an odd holiday problem. The party is made up of everyone who wanders in from the snowstorm.
4-6 players.
System: D20. Players may generate characters using 3.5, PF1, or 5e(OG). I’m used to running mixed tables. Bring your own book. System differences hand-waved or just use slightly different rolls. The modules being used as a base are 5e. See "house rules" for details.
Generation: 20 points, level 5. 12,000 gp equipment/items.
Sources: Player’s Handbook and DMG only (SRD), except Samurai and Witch (OA, CW, PF1, or 3rd Party).
Races restricted to: Elf, ½ elf, Human, halfling, gnome, dwarf, ½ orc, awakened caribou/white-tailed deer/moose/camel or llama or sheep who thinks it's a reindeer
Dwarf, halfling, and gnome base movement is 20. Specify if your dwarf has dark vision or infrared.
Specify if your ½ elf is standard or bifurcated (only 1 pointed ear and only that eye has low-light vision/OotS style).
Half races may be of mixed parentage or true-breeding, which matters only for purposes of character backstory.
Classes Restricted to: Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, Paladin (LG only), Samurai, Sorcerer, Witch, Wizard. Multi-classing allowed within reason.
Alignment: no evil or CN. Characters are heroic good guys. True Neutrals are neither schizophrenic nor bipolar. LG doesn't have to be "lawful stupid".
No Flaws or other trading. No complaining about “taxes”. 5e players can use feats or not at their choice.
No firearms.
Religions: GH, FR, Norse, Greek, Pseudo-Jew/Christian (Santa Claus is a thing, but then so is Coal’thu’lu, Dracula, and the Easter Bunny…). Really only matters for clerics. If you want to be a Gnome Rabbi or Friar Tuk, you can be.
House rules: Expect and accept non-standard magic items and crit/precision damage/resistance rules. Crit rules may be per creature write-up, not per player system. Opponent casters may be simplified. Magical situations may be, and probably are, unique to scenario.
Playing here. IC thread will be open after 4th applicant approved.
