The Pied Piper of Hommlet
Hommlet is a sleepy village, its farmhouses and artisans clustered around a crossroads at the edge of the untamed wilderness. Worshipers of Pelor and other gods mingle peacefully over ale at the local inn while merchants hawk their wares in nearby shops. Nothing interesting ever happens in Hommlet these days. Of course, the village was not always so quiet. More than a hundred years ago powerful evil forces moved into the region and took control. Ruling from their mighty temple in the mountains deep in the wilderness, these dark forces seemed invincible . . . until great heroes rose up and shattered the temple's sinister hold over the region. It is written in Pelor's Great Book that the evil which plagued this land gained its foothold because it was invited to that mountain by someone who lives in Hommlet. And legend has it that the "blasted heath," a barren hill just outside of town, is where the dark invitation was made with blood. That is why nothing grows there now. So they say. Peace returned, of course. Decades passed, and memories of the evil faded. But now on the eve of Mabon, the day in which darkness begins to overtake light, another evil has risen—a hungry evil, a pied evil. ~~~ The Pied Piper of Hommlet is a Dungeon World horror game for about four players. I will try to post three times a week and hope to have the game finished by the end of the year.
