The Suzerain Continuum

Chosen by a mysterious patron and gifted with sentient gemstones of cosmic power, players will take on the role of mighty heroes from across the planes who have been tasked with preserving the infinite worlds and eras of the Suzerain Continuum from foes and crises beyond imagining.

The infinite expanse of the Suzerain Continuum- a multiverse over multiverses that encompasses not just all of space, but time as well- has seen countless planar upheavals over the course of countless eons. One such upheaval was the War of Shattered Gates, where a time-sundered fragment of the long-dead cosmic demon lord Vor'tilaxxis opened portals to countless worlds throughout the Continuum and sent forth its armies to conquer. Vor'tilaxxis and its minions slew countless beings and left more than a few dead worlds behind in their quest for the cores of the planes themselves, rich in the multiversal energy known as Pulse that the fragmented demon lord needed to make itself whole.

But the inhabitants of the besieged worlds did not go down without a fight and champions from across the multiverse gathered to form the Conclave of Worlds. While some of the Conclave fought on the frontlines to protect the worlds invaded by Vor'Tilaxxis, others began to formulate a plan to strike down the demon lord itself. After nearly a planar year of conflict, the scholars and sages of the group uncovered their foe's living fortress on the endless gray wastelands of the dead world known as Anshet. The armies of the Conclave were teleported en masse to Anshet and marched forward in a desperate gambit to besiege the living fortress and the armies of cosmic demons that guarded it while a small group used the resulting chaos to sneak in and deal with Vor'tilaxxis itself. Weakened as it was from a year of maintaining hundreds of portals and birthing legions of demons from its own fractured essence, the demon lord was eventually brought low by the band of heroes. But the demon lord had one last cruelty to inflict: its body and soul were glutted with Pulse from the planar cores it had devoured and, as it died and the time-space continuum snapped back to normal, the clashing energies exploded and destroyed both the fortress and the triumphant heroes with it.

This may seem the end for the champions, but their heroic deeds have drawn many eyes from the multiverse. As their souls linger in the liminal spaces between life and death, a mysterious patron comes from beyond time and space to offer them the chance to live once more as protectors of the infinite worlds and eras.
