The Vault of Thaire
Hi! I’ve never run a Play-by-Post (PbP) game before, but I’m really excited to give it a try! This adventure is fairly short (only 5 pages) so I think it will serve as a good introduction into PbP gaming. I am looking for 2-6 players to join.
Character creation:
- Use the Myth-Weavers Dungeon and Dragons [Basic] character sheet (LINK / write down your AB in the field where it says THAC0).
- Instead of rolling dice to generate your character's ability scores assign the following scores in any order you like: 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, and 7.
- Your character has already accumulated 2300 xp from previous adventures (humans start with 2530 xp from their 10% bonus).
- Your character has maximal possible hit points (thus a 2nd level fighter with a Constitution score of 13 would have 18 hit points).
- You have 180gp available to spend on equipment.
Chat styling guide:
- Use normal text when narrating your character's actions e.g. Rolf takes a seat at the bar and hand signals the bartender.
- Use italics and quotation marks when speaking in character e.g. "I'll take a tankard of your best ale sir for I have something to celebrate"
Additional rules:
- We play with the optional Save vs. Death rules (where a slain character has a chance to stay alive for 2d10 rounds).
- We use the optional rules for Ability Rolls (where you succeed on a task if you roll a 17+).
How does this work?
This PbP game will largely work like any other ttrpg session you may have been in: I the Game Master (GM) will describe a scene, and then players write what they'd wish their character to do or ask questions.
How will this PbP game differ to a standart session?
- This is a decelerated way of gaming (take your time) - if you only log in every couple of days that's totally fine.
- All rolls will be done by the GM using the Myth-Weavers built in dice roller.
- If a battle starts I will describe the set up and then ask everyone what she/he would like to do this round. After which I will roll initiative, attacks, and saving throws, etc. for all combatants and describe what happened in this round, before I again ask everyone what they'd like to achieve in the next round.
What if a player does not respond?
If prompted and a player doesn't respond after 48 hours I will momentarily narrate his character's actions as if he was a NPC. A player may of course preemptively write down a short description of what his character would do in case something like this happens e.g. if I don't response Zavrov will use his cure light wounds on anyone below half hit points.
