Troubleshooters - an un-epic adventure

This is an un-epic game, which is sort of on brand for me. What it means is that there will be fewer dragons and gods, that plots won't involve saving the world - but rather that the game will be primarily centered on the town in which you live, which we'll call ... oh, how about Glimmerpeak Village. Named after Glimmerpeak, the mountain on which it nestles like a birds nest among the tall cliffs.

Your character will be from - or from around - Glimmerpeak. The village is primarily human with a smattering of relatively normal races (no elves though - please don't roll an elf), but the mountain and the range it's a part of holds all manner of creatures.

It's cold. This is a factor. You are high in the mountains, and even in summer, there's snow all year round just a few hundred meters higher.

Peculiarities:

No elves. You can be a half-elf though, but if you are, you've never met your elfin parent. Or .. ancestor. Whichever.

No weird races. No harengon, no dragonborn, no gith or kreen. You get the picture. You can however play orc or goblin or kobold is you so desire.

There's no gold to power scaling. You cannot buy magic items. Well, potions and the occasional scroll, but you can't walk into a shop with gold and walk out with a Sword +1 or a Wand of Magic Missiles. For this reason, you can have as much gold as you like*, it won't affect the power level in combat.

That doesn't mean you cannot have magic items. But gold isn't how you get them.

Combat. I'm ... how shall I put this? I'm sort of mediocre at running combat. I know the rules and all, but combat is kinda secondary, you know? If you really enjoy the tactical aspect of D&D, and you want to stomp on fools with your sick build, this quite likely isn't the game you want.

Also maps. You like maps? I don't use them. On the other hand I don't overcomplicate combat - see above - so I honestly don't feel like I need them.

You'll start at level 1, with standard gold and equipment. There isn't really information enough here to make a character, but that'll come.
