About This Game

Claremont Academy is a four-color teen superhero game in the same vein as Teen Titans and X-Men Evolution. Expect a lot of fun, humor, and some teen angst along with classic superhero themes and tropes. We’ll break out of the box a bit, but be aware that most of the game will be fairly lighthearted.

Game System

Mutants & Masterminds 3e
  1. What's new in this game
  2. Jan -OOBLECK Jan looks at Sarah and her glasses fall back down her nose. She pushes them back up her nose and pushes her hair out of her face huffing , “Thank you. I’m sorry if I’m being erratic or like whatever. This is just a lot. Like so much a lot. This is what we do though right? We’re going to be supers. We are supers.” Jan raises her head and looks around the room, snuffling and clearing her throat before clearly asking the room, ”So what do we do now .”
  3. Sarah - Artifice Sarah sat back down in shock. She had been focused on their own predicament, she had not even begun to think of what Jan may have gone through, or for how long. "Damn, I am sorry, I...we...I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been hell." This did deflate her growing frustration and pressure on her. Then the thought that all of this bombarding of questions was just to see if their story changed or test them on what they perceived as the series of events. Sarah began to look at the "others" with suspicion.
  4. Jan -OOBLECK Jan looked annoyed but at this point that was established as me her modes of existence, “Yup, woke up there no idea what happened or how. To answer the how you got back angle it’s called Science Sarah. It’s why I’m here..” Jan looks around the room .”Between the weeping and crying and running for my life I actually had a lot of time to think. So I did, and once enough things started to click and the ideas were falling like dominos I made it happen because that’s what a super scientist does.”
  5. Felix Neel - Magnet Felix stays comfortable leaning against a wall with arms crossed. He continues to feel like this is an initiation prank, so he continues to spectate the show. Because if it's real, he would not know how to process what he was hearing. Or what to do.
  6. Sarah - Artifice How Deep they are? HOW DEEP THEY ARE? Sarah thought that they were in pretty deep. "So Jan was sent to the future for a long stretch, then somehow managed to rubber band us to the future with her and then back?" Sarah for just once wanted to remain in one place for more than a few months. At least it was not dimensional. She tried to put on a calm face, but felt like a tempest inside. "So Jan, you woke up in the future, so I can only assume that you do not know how you got there. How did you work out how to use the Wreck Room to get yourself back?" Sarah could only assume that her attempt at doing so is what dragged them there. But then, it could have been more. There may have been a beacon created by their powers combining. Or it could have just been dumb luck. Sarah was not sure which she would prefer at this time.
  7. Jan -OOBLECK Jan looked hurt briefly her face scrunching up before she pushed her glasses back up her nose, “I want to be hurt by that, but Valid.” Jan points at Darius with a dismissively flicked finger, ”Well mostly alone, but yeah. Small favors and all that.”
  8. Megan - Newt Seemed to make as much sense as anything. Up until like a couple seconds ago Megan was pretty sure it was all some elaborate prank so sure. Time Travel. Stop the end of the world. Why not? Seemed totally like the sort of thing someone who could burn stuff should be in charge of. "I mean you could be lying but that's such a random lie that'd either be stupid or brilliant. Since you kinda shot your shot with the new guy doing it I'm gonna say you're like stupid sincere. So why not? Time Travel. Wouldn't even be the weirdest thing thing that happened to me." Well maybe that wasn't always going to be true. Jan's story notably didn't have some parts in it. And if that burned out scene they flashed into last week apparently it wasn't a huge leap to assume what happened to everyone else, Megan included. "So that was like a year from now? Sucks. At least it sounds like we went out quick if you were alone or whatever."
  9. Jan -OOBLECK Jan stutters her mouth fluttering like a fish gasping for air as she processes everything, “Alright well on the real I didn’t expect you to recognize me. Like even if you did dream about it or somehow transport like I did. But I bet you’re just lucky or something. That or you’re damn good. You lived, or well you’re going to. Seems weird but we become buds.” Shaking her head Jan looks to Ty and the rest of the authority figures. Almost doe eyed, ”You believe me? That hero stuff makes sense. Just a leap of logic I had assumed to be the case already. Thanks for the confirmation though. But back to the important stuff. You believe that I traveled in time?”
  10. A resounding silence follows Jan's speech. Slowly, eyes shift towards Darius who looks completely bewildered by the short girl's proclamation. "Uh. I've never met you before in my life..." He looks around the room, and jerks his hands up when he gets to Ty. "No bullshit, man." Ty nods and scrubs his face with a hand, sighing. "I believe you." He focuses on the rest of the team, and rolls his shoulders. "Okay. Assuming none of you have any further clues, we need to get on this." He looks over at Becks who nods and pushes away from the table. "I'll get in contact with Mr. Summers and see what he wants us to handle." Ty stands, clapping his hands together. "Joy. Extra homework. Okay folks. Some facts not widely known to the public. One, the school does train heroes, not just students with powers. The reason it's done here is for security and safety. Many of the faculty and staff are retired heroes, and the school itself is located on a nexus of ley lines. Two, that nexus sometimes... attracts attention from the wider universe. Seems you guys got caught up in the mess." He moves around the table and opens the fridge, looking through it for a moment before closing it without taking anything. "Now we have to figure out just how deep in it you are."
  11.  Jan -OOBLECK Jan freezes up overwhelmed. Sputtering to answer any questions in anything approaching any more detail than she had already offered up, this was a first for her man. You don’t spend a… man how long two weeks, a month. Almost all of it alone and hiding from them. Until she met him, a giant narcissist, a frikkin Adonis. One that quickly became so much more. She would treasure that week with Darius as they fought and hid. A pang struck her chest tight and sharp at a small loss amidst the chaos   She opened her mouth to try to speak and then he came into the kitchen, right there. Walked right by her like he belonged here. And her heart hurt again because that week could only happen in the apocalypse. Here, now, he was him, and even though she knew for sure she could get it… she didn’t have the time or the energy and that was just plain sad   Ty and the rest stormed in and demanded answers while providing what structure people with their limited position of authority could help to bring in the middle of the insanity that had been popping off here.   Everyone followed them to the table and Jan just straight froze mouth agape. What the heck is she supposed to do with this. UGH. Jan dropped her head and let her shoulders slouch as she walked to the table a beat behind the rest. Trying to shake the half fugue state she was in just in time to hear literally everyone she could name throw her under the bus.   “Cool, yeah, okay, so… man. UGH. Okay so thanks guys. This show of support is both understood and forgiven even if it does break my itsy bitsy heart.”   Jan tightens her bun and huffs a bit,“So from my end I just need you to know this is all a little intense okay, so if we could mellow for a sec as I get a hold of my rapidly emerging wicked case of ptsd.” Here surrounded by literally everyone she could name at this school she took three quick breaths and then dove back in, “I woke up on the future. The world ended. There was fire, weird smoke, debri everywhere, everyone was dead or gone, and every night they came and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it though fighting and hiding. I saw some newspaper and a few scraps that make me think it was a year from when I fell asleep in my lab, and I’ve got some names that might know something or might not but we have to try to stop it. So anything is better than nothing. I don’t know how I got back, it shouldn’t have worked but it did. But, that’s all old news. For the last week of my life I spent it with that glorious idiot right there Darius.” She ends her rant pointing at the new arrival.
  12.      Sarah - Artifice Sarah shook her head. What if this was real? She had witnessed the video, had this been a prank, unless they were very good they did not have the time to edit it. So for the moment, she decided to take this seriously. "Alright, let's for the moment assume you are correct and not pulling anything over on us" She was not sure why she of all people was being the voice of reason, but stranger things have happened in the world. "We were in the game, both Felix and I hit you," she pointed to Becks, "with a double whammy. But this was similar to how we had brought Ty down." She began making sure to be clear in her thoughts. "For Ty, I had chosen mental magic, for Becks a more physical blast. Ty's powers seem to be more rooted in Magic, or of Nature. Becks though is rooted in Technology. There may have been an interaction between her tech, Felix's power, and my own. However, that would not explain how you were not sent on this journey with us." She realized that she was looking HARD at the table and looked up to look into their eyes as she strained to keep her voice steady as her emotions began to tug at her. "After Becks was dropped, SOMETHING happened. We were one moment in the training room, and another, still in the room, but things were different. Like we were in the aftermath of an apocalypse. Jan then told us to remain where we were, and after much too long but perhaps was not more than a few minutes we were returned to the previous room where we were accosted as if we lit the Dean's coattails on fire" She could tell that her voice strained to remain calm. Sarah then spoke softly but firmly, "You accost us looking for answers and are frustrated when we fight back, but from our perspective, virtually no time has passed. Felix claims that this must be hazing because from our perspective what else could it be?" she stood up, not a great height to either of them, "Jan seemed to know more of what happened, perhaps we should ask HER these questions, perhaps...PERHAPS we may get more of an answer than accusations!" by the end Sarah could feel her magic straining, fighting the Omega House. She still did not understand how this could be, or if it was the entity tied to Ty keeping her in check. She was grateful, even though she felt like this moment was perhaps just the right time to let loose. The feeling seemed to be a build without a release and only served to cause her more irritation than the peace that it should.
  13. Felix Neel - Magnet Felix gets more comfortable leaning against a wall and crosses his arms. He strongly feels like this is an initiation prank, so he watches the show... because he believes it to all be a show. He looks at Ty and Becks, and then at his fellow students, especially the new girl and boy expecting some of them to be in on it.
  14. Megan - Newt Megan was willing to take that this might have been legit now. Ty hulking out only had a little to do with it, honest. Videos could be edited but there was only so much effort she figured anyone would go to do pull a prank or teach a lesson. They did this much, well, maybe they deserved to point and laugh at tricking her. If that's what was happening. Megan figured it was 70/30.   "If it was such a big deal somebody coulda said something first. Didn't have to freak out on us. That Tex guy and Pinky didn't say nothing about any of that, just we should go back here and you'd explain it."   Sounded like it was the teachers who were acting 'too cool' in this. Or were passing the work. If they'd been gone a week or whatever shouldn't they have been the people to tell them? Or like keep them there and bring Ty and Becks and all that to them? Like wouldn't they want to know what happened and not play this telephone game stuff? Not that Megan knew anything about anything. Or any of them did. So why were they getting yelled at for it? Especially when... "Hey! It's all her fault anyway!" Megan declares, outing Jan. That was probably right anyway.
  15. A loud BANG, accompanied by the rattling of dishware breaks the silence. Turning, you see Ty with a massive hand splayed on the tabletop, and an unusually serious look on his face. "Everyone. Table. Now." The tone of his voice gives the impression that challenging him at the current moment would be a Very Bad Idea. Once everyone has begun to make their way over, he casts a glance around. "I get it. Everyone here is too cool for school. However, we are in charge here. We can be friendly, we'd like to be friendly. But right now, I'm not playing games. You WILL tell us what happened. This is not in question. Are we understood?" The stern look on his face is without question the most serious you've seen the large sophomore, and his entire demeanor has shifted from friendly to, not intimidating, but one that brooks no argument. Becks takes a step forward, resting a hand on his arm for a second, before turning to face the group. "We're a little stressed, but Ty is right. This isn't a joke, or a game. We're not pulling the wool over your eyes. Something happened, something that wasn't supposed to be able to happen. We need to figure out what happened so that we can prevent it from happening again. We've been entrusted with your safety and we take that job very seriously." She moves around the table and picks up a tablet, that springs to life and projects a holographic image of what appears to be footage of the Wreck Room from the Capture the Flag game. "We know what happened right up until you vanished." The footage plays forward, slightly sped up. The various figures move around the environment, and she slows the footage down frame-by-frame. "We know that there was a power surge around the same time I was knocked out, and at first we thought it was due to my connection to the room. But..." The image jumps to the next frame, and suddenly where there had been empty space between the freshman, a scintillating nimbus of energy has appeared. The frame jumps forward again, and the energy has vanished along with the teens. She speeds the footage back to normal speed after that and immense shockwave ripples away from the point, slamming into the two RAs and lifting them from where they were slowly getting back up, throwing them across the simulated warehouse before the footage crackles into static. "Clearly, something else happened there. Now. Your turn."
  16.      Sarah - Artifice Sarah wanted to follow Megan's train of thought. Was this just a prank? To get the teachers and everyone else involved? But they had been in the ruins of the school. But could that have been a simulation of the practice room? Suddenly Sarah had quite a bit of doubt filling her. She was tempted to start a ritual to verify the current placement of the planet with the sun but that would not be kosher in the moment. She really wished she had a cell phone or something that would auto-sync with the date and time right now. For the moment Sarah remained quiet.
  17. Felix Neel - Magnet "A week?!" Felix blurts out after Becks comment. Then he stares at Sarah, "Not an initiation prank? C'mon. Really? They can make this stuff up using that tech in that Simulation Room, and now they're just messing with us. I'm not buying it." He shakes his head and grabs some chips. Heading to a comfortable seat, he nods at Darius, "Hey new guy. I was the last new guy. Wonder what crazy stuff they're going to throw at us now. Buckle up."
  18. Megan - Newt Ugh. Them too? Was this some sort of prank? Was someone gonna pop up and say they're on camera or something? They were the ones who up and vanished and they're trying to make them into the weird ones?   Well whatever was going on it wasn't funny or clever or cute or whatever they were going for and some of the more gullible ones were eating it up. It was getting annoying! "Okay, that's enough. What, you got bored so you planned out whatever this is? First we get that glitch, then the late girl's saying she's from the future even though we all saw her yesterday. Then there was the whole thing with those teachers. Now we got you who disappeared on us saying we've been gone a week. If you guys are gonna try and pull something maybe at least coordinate your stories or something first, geez!"   So dumb! And like the dumbest part, why was Megan in the group getting the runaround? What was so special about the loud girl or the new guy? Like who even was that, like why introduce someone new now? Name sounded familiar. But it sounded like a lot of work for something so stupid.
  19. Before the conversation has the chance to get much further, a sudden tumble of noise can heard on the other side of the wall, and Ty and Becks appear in the doorway to the kitchenette in a rush. The both of them are wide-eyed and worried looking as they move into the kitchen area, checking you for injuries. Ty is on alert, his whole being bristling with energy. The magically inclined individuals can feel a pressure against their magical senses, but rather than being suffocating, the energy is warm and comforting, like a plush quilt fresh from a dryer. Becks looks at the group a moment, and rests her hands on the island and breaths out a sigh of relief. "Thank god you are okay. Where in the hells have you been!? You've been missing a week!" As if there wasn't already quite enough on the group's plates, they hear the front door open and close. A sound of a bag being dropped and heavy boot clomping steps near the doorway to the kitchen where a strange, handsome young man with short dark curly hair and lean features appears. He looks at the group with an expression of total boredom, pulling the headphones he was wearing out of his ears, tinny hissing and thumping emanating from them. "So, they showed up. Bummer. Guess I gotta share the room now." He squeezes past Sarah and Felix and Ty, making his way to the fridge, where he grabs a soda and an orange before turning away to leave. Ty rolls his eyes and gestures at the newcomer. "Another late addition. Nothing unusual. This is Darius Montgomery." The name sounds familiar to the group, or those who at least browsed the covers of gossip magazines. The Montgomery family was old old money, and old old scandals, though some of those scandals weren't as old as they might like to be. Darius was the youngest son in line of scions who might charitably be called "black sheep" and was well on the way to earning the championship belt of black sheep. Jan recognized him for a different reason however...
  20.      Sarah - Artifice Sarah followed the others and sat down at the table. Her mind had swirled with all kinds of doomsday scenarios and how she could have been involved in them. Now that Jan had spoken it seemed to have broken the doom spiral spell. Sarah felt a kinship with Jan, they were both artificers...well, Jan was an inventor, but that was merely a semantic difference between science and magic. Now Jan was spinning this tale, and had she not been in that apocalyptic landscape for a short stretch she would have found it difficult to accept. Well, not that difficult, Sarah herself was here due to being cast across dimensions, so as she thought about it all of her arguments fell away. "No Felix, this is certainly not an initiation thing" She then turned to Jan, "So you were able to work out the when by the newspaper. Any idea of the how? Any radiation readings or something on your scanners?" Right now Sarah had accepted the inevitability, that she would be involved and would do everything in her power to stop this event.
  21. Felix Neel - Magnet At 5 feet 9 inches, Felix is a lanky teenager with unkempt, blonde hair, and brilliant blue eyes.  While he doesn't have his skateboard, you can easily imagine him with one. "Hi Jan. I'm Felix. Arrived here late." "I don't know if this thing is an initiation thing for the school or what, so I'm just going with it." Probably quite incredulously he asks, "So, what do we need to first to save the world from ending?"
  22.  Jan -OOBLECK Jan runs her hands through her hair and takes several metered breaths. She looks at the unknown skater kid. “Sup who are you? I’m Jan I was here for orientation and then zap. In the future.” Jan starts to walk with everyone else heading towards the dorm, “So I know it sounds crazy but I was doing work in my lab and I must have nodded off. I woke up and BLAM, fire, brimstone, destruction, I had to goo up so that I could dig out. Once I was out everything was wrecked and I mean everything. I couldn’t find anyone. I thought I was going to die alone. I found some newspaper, and some scraps of paper here and there that led me to believe I know someone who maybe will know something back here. I dunno I’m back, I’m here, and this is the type of thing that happens to us supers, this is super stuff and we have to stop the world from ending. I don’t want you guys to die. I know I just met you all and I disappeared and all that but still. The worlds going to end, everyone is going to die, and I need help stopping it. Please.”
  23. Felix Neel - Magnet Felix was really confused and only slightly mollified by the confirmation that Ty and Becks were alright. The past hour was the weirdest series of events which had ever happened to him, since his mutant abilities started to randomly emerge a few years ago. He didn’t know what to do, so he shrugged and started heading for the door at a leisurely, ‘I’m cool’ pace to not draw attention from the surrounding girls. Mechanics
  24.      Sarah - Artifice "I guess so" Sarah offered. Not really sure herself. All she knew is that she wanted to be out of this place.   Did they experience time travel? Dimension Travel? What else? The only travel that she would want would be back to her home dimension. Until then, she had firmly decided she was not leaving this dimension willingly. She started toward the exit a little faster than she thought was prudent, but much slower than she wanted to.
  25. Megan - Newt Megan didn't know why the people standing here right now couldn't explain what just happened, you know, here, but they weren't all bent outta shape about whatever went down so it probably really wasn't Megan's fault. So that meant she wasn't going to be blamed for it so that meant she didn't have to care as much about it.   The noisy girl from back at the house was saying something about... well Megan kinda tuned her out but it sounded like she was quoting some movie or something but Megan didn't know what it was so it was probably a lame movie and not worth worrying about anyway. Pinky wasn't worried. Or not worried about that or them so that probably meant something.   Whatever they were doing didn't look like anything Megan knew anything about anyway. "O. Kay. So we just leave yeah? Just the same way we came in or what?"
  26. The two teachers don't immediately address the students, instead moving around and checking displays, marking notes down on tablets. The barrel-chested man, Tex apparently, looks over from his spot in front of a series of displays and smiles at Felix. "Dontcha worry yerself. Becks and Ty are alright, and waiting for you lot. Why don't y'all head on over to your dorm and yer RAs will explain as much as they can. Ahm sure ya have more than a few questions, but we've got, ah, some things to handle here after that little mishap." He nods encouragingly, but then his attention shifts back to the displays and he's back to taking notes.
