Game Expectations

This will be a Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition game which will begin in upstate New York in the 1920s. Characters will all live and work in, or around, Coswegotch University and have direct ties to that institution. It is starting as a single scenario but if the players enjoy and want to continue, it can be expanded to a longer-term campaign. Posting frequency is expected to be twice a week on average, depending on what it is happening in game and in life. As Keeper, I try to stick a schedule of official postings on Wednesday and Sunday. Of course, answering questions and general ooc would be as needed.

Characters will start with no knowledge of the true nature of the universe, or the horrors it holds. Investigation, mystery, intrigue and plot twists should be expected. Combat will be a part of the game but not the most prevalent aspect in most cases. But then again, who can say what your characters will do when the horrors of the universe are revealed! I tend to go more horror than sci-fi with my Cthulhu and while I use the mythos as my foundation, I do add a homebrew flair to what I use or come up with.

Since COC is about uncovering terrible realities and facing horror there will naturally be elements of the game that are graphic in their context and revelation. Having said that there are some topics that will be off limits in game. I tend to run things at a PG13 or low R-rating. It is also a period piece when things were different that they are today in terms of gender, race and religion. I won't allow playing into these stereotypes in a derogatory or hurtful way. If you find the need to use abusive/demeaning language, discriminate, bully other players or act as an all-around jerk under the guise that is how your character would behave then this is not the game for you.

I am looking for 4-5 players that can post two times a week (on average) that fit the following general model:

⦁             New players, occasional players and life-long players are all welcome to apply.

⦁             Enjoy roleplay over mechanics and rule lawyering.

⦁             Want to be part of creating a great story.

⦁             Can effectively communicate their ideas, actions and intentions.

To Apply: Prepare a character using the Character Sheet and the point buy system (460 point across the 8 characteristics within the range of 15-90. INT and SIZ must be minimum of 40). Occupation will determine occupational skill points and skills as well as credit rating point requirement.
