  2. No.17 After a few seconds passed, No.17 let out a soft sigh and leaned back into his seat, checking the radar sensors an instant too late. Not noticing anything amiss, he send a brief congratulations over to Remy. "I'll divert power to the shields in preparation of any traps or guards. I think it's time that we begin moving in." As he waited for her to respond, he began to switch his power banks over towards powering the shields and ablative plating instead. ---- Action: Durability/Internal Systems CaA for extra Protection ---- Trackers Lurking: 1 Free Invoke ---- No.17 PILOT ASPECTS Self View: Humanity's Product Social Type: Silent, Investigative Type Trauma: Occupational Paranoia Pilot Style: The Second Route of Assassination Dream: Freed of the Bonds of Duty SKILLS +4: Melee +3: Agility, Toughness +2: Investigation, Situational Awareness, Mental Fortitude +1: Contacts, Mechanics, Medical, Diplomacy Stunts: Martial Exemplar: +1 Free Invocation when performing Melee-related CaAs Whirling Dervish: When being attacked by more than one individual enemy, gain +2 to Melee Trained Bodyguard: Once per combat, take a single attack meant for someone else in the same zone, defending with half stats(minimum of 1) ---- Mecha: Lie Vante Lie Vante Design Concept: Melee-Focused Assassin Design Flaw: "Get me closer so I can hit them with my sword!" 3. There was a brief silence from everyone at the entrance. Hearing the words of Remy made all of the Congo Civilians rethink their actions. Nodding their heads and looking towards their peers they all began to agree with Remy's statement. Little by little the crowd began to dissipate and enter back into the city. Though there was a success, things were still happening in the shadows within the area. As Remy removed herself from the cockpit of her Mech and Luc was busy focusing on gathering intel, the Radar systems happened to pick up on movements in the distance.. Those Radar hit would quickly vanish before Remy or Luc would notice them. As minutes went by, the Airship would eventually enter into the area and vast amount of crewmen would begin loading up the materials left within the Port. Result Remy managed to successfully Overcome the Crowd Aspect.
  4. Remy Concorde Remy halted the mecha, opened the canopy and climbed out, while maintaining a radio link from her microphone to the mecha's loudspeakers. "Citizens!" she spoke in French, letting her native accent loose, which was neither that of metropolitan France, nor that of an Englishman trying to learn a second language, but rather of someone whose mother tongue originated somewhere in the Mediterranean. "You have scared a corrupt leader into hiding in a moment when the world depends on you, at a time when the corrupt politicians want to pocket any rewards the world is willing to pay. You are right to be angry, but do not let that anger make you squander the opportunity you have at the moment!" "NATO depends on your mines, not just on the shipment currently in port. While the hawks may be willing to use force here if a diplomatic solution isn't found, that would be a lose-lose for both of our peoples. Let's not allow that to happen! Instead, if you have demands, make those demands known. Use the moment to form a fair government, and use the opportunity to have NATO back your choice - it will be happy to deal with your representative so long as the supply lines last. It will also be content to continue fighting the monsters that stride throughout the land, as those threaten both your prosperity and theirs." "Pick a representative, make demands, find a solution. If this turns into a confrontation, no matter how today ends, nobody wins in the long term. Let's not allow that to happen." ---- Action: calm the crowd and try to arrange a beginning of negotiations, using Diplomacy/Rapport. 5. No.17 No.17 sat somewhat awkwardly in Lie Vante, not quite knowing what to do. A stealth mech was, after all, not exactly intended to be for the public eye, and his own social skills were hardly in the range of reassuring. However, after a second of thought, he phoned a few contacts to see if they could dig up any information on what these people were protesting on, and how best to get them to calm down. It was a faint chance they had any postings out here, but it was a chance nevertheless. ---- Action: Contacts CaA for Remy ---- Trackers Lurking: 1 Free Invoke ---- No.17 PILOT ASPECTS Self View: Humanity's Product Social Type: Silent, Investigative Type Trauma: Occupational Paranoia Pilot Style: The Second Route of Assassination Dream: Freed of the Bonds of Duty SKILLS +4: Melee +3: Agility, Toughness +2: Investigation, Situational Awareness, Mental Fortitude +1: Contacts, Mechanics, Medical, Diplomacy Stunts: Martial Exemplar: +1 Free Invocation when performing Melee-related CaAs Whirling Dervish: When being attacked by more than one individual enemy, gain +2 to Melee Trained Bodyguard: Once per combat, take a single attack meant for someone else in the same zone, defending with half stats(minimum of 1) ---- Mecha: Lie Vante Lie Vante Design Concept: Melee-Focused Assassin Design Flaw: "Get me closer so I can hit them with my sword!" 6. Remy Concorde Remy was stumped for a moment. It has been quite a while since her success depended not on reflexes and precision, but on people skills. The need and ability to flex her cognitive empathy in this situation felt like the kind of challenge that was worrisome and welcome at the same time. Clearly the best outcome would be to calm the crowd down, but the path to that goal went through a metaphorical minefield. Remy racked her brain for all the clues as to how to best approach the situation. The usual suggestion to appear non-imposing was, of course, inapplicable - even getting out of the cockpit would not be enough. No, the approach has to depend on what the people want, what needs to be said to them, and what would be an acceptable compromise for the time being. She looked inwards, seeking the right words. ---- Action: use figure out the best way to build a de-escalating speech, that is, do an Empathy CaA that would provide insights to use with a subsequent Diplomacy (or similar) action. Spending a recently-gained FP on Cool-Headed Insightful Type help with the insights, duh. ---- Trackers Mental stress taken: 0 out of 6. 7. The Ground Force Team Leader would hear No.17's suggestion and simply respond. " Throwing out mines with this many witnesses is probably not a good idea. But I do agree these civilians need to be cleared out, they are starting to cause trouble and its getting hard to see what's really going on out there."
  8. No.17 Inspecting the civilians, No.17 tapped his armrest thoughtfully. In an extreme case, they could always use their Mechs to clear the civilians out, although the PR fallout would be equally extreme. However, if the infantry was forced to focus on clearing the crowd out, No.17 suspected further groups would be filtering their way inside. "There should be some mines detonated a safe distance away, but close enough to spook, perhaps. Give the cover of terrorists having mined the entire place to blow, that we're mine-sweeping. That should persuade the civilians to keep a safe distance, if nothing else, and give pause to the enemy's reinforcement, who might not know if we've done it or not." ---- Action: ---- Trackers Lurking: 1 Free Invoke ---- No.17 PILOT ASPECTS Self View: Humanity's Product Social Type: Silent, Investigative Type Trauma: Occupational Paranoia Pilot Style: The Second Route of Assassination Dream: Freed of the Bonds of Duty SKILLS +4: Melee +3: Agility, Toughness +2: Investigation, Situational Awareness, Mental Fortitude +1: Contacts, Mechanics, Medical, Diplomacy Stunts: Martial Exemplar: +1 Free Invocation when performing Melee-related CaAs Whirling Dervish: When being attacked by more than one individual enemy, gain +2 to Melee Trained Bodyguard: Once per combat, take a single attack meant for someone else in the same zone, defending with half stats(minimum of 1) ---- Mecha: Lie Vante Lie Vante Design Concept: Melee-Focused Assassin Design Flaw: "Get me closer so I can hit them with my sword!" 9. Compel Received by Remy: Failure to Locate Intruders. A small group of unknown personnel managed to slip by security and entered into the shipping yard.
  10. As the both of them pressed forward, they both would realize that the area had been completely cleared out. Infantry Units moved in and managed to take up security based positions to ensure that no civilian could make entry without notice. As the hours went by, a group of civilians would gather at the Alpha Entrance which forced majority of the ground security to focus their efforts to that zone. Some of the civilians would even begin to throw rocks at the Ground Units positions in an attempt to hurt NATO Troops. After a few hours, the Airship USS Sandy could be seen in the horizon. 11. No.17 The soft, reassuring hum of Lie Vante always managed to relax No.17 by inestimably small degrees, even though arguably, he was in more danger. Here, the qualities of the pilot did matter, but not so much as the mettle of the machine. Still, exchanging brief communiques with Remy, he nodded. Lie Vante entered Entrance Alpha after the scanning had concluded, treading lightly with cam-shielding engaged. ---- Action: Stealth CaA ---- Trackers ---- No.17 PILOT ASPECTS Self View: Humanity's Product Social Type: Silent, Investigative Type Trauma: Occupational Paranoia Pilot Style: The Second Route of Assassination Dream: Freed of the Bonds of Duty SKILLS +4: Melee +3: Agility, Toughness +2: Investigation, Situational Awareness, Mental Fortitude +1: Contacts, Mechanics, Medical, Diplomacy Stunts: Martial Exemplar: +1 Free Invocation when performing Melee-related CaAs Whirling Dervish: When being attacked by more than one individual enemy, gain +2 to Melee Trained Bodyguard: Once per combat, take a single attack meant for someone else in the same zone, defending with half stats(minimum of 1) ---- Mecha: Lie Vante Lie Vante Design Concept: Melee-Focused Assassin Design Flaw: "Get me closer so I can hit them with my sword!" 12. Result: Remy wouldn't find anything out of the ordinary with their scan. Nothing was picked up via their action.
  13. Remy Concorde Remy swept the apertures across the area of approach. RADARs wouldn't penetrate all this metal and concrete, but other cues, such as unusual heat signatures, could be used to spot some threats. "Stand by for a few seconds while I try to get the big picture." ---- Action: scan with 'RADAR' against hidden threats. 14. After a week of the presidents failing attempt at gaining back public trust and control over his populace, it was certain that things were not going to simply go back to normal within the capital. The Civilians had completely pushed out all of NATO and Warsaw assets while still keeping control over GlenCore materials. The ODST Team was then informed that they would be sent on a mission alongside the Rangers to gain control over the Ports which held POH Materials. It was going to be their job to support ground infantry in gaining control over the port and allowing for shipping operations to continue. Upon arrival with the Mecha's most of the Civilians quickly removed themselves from the area and those who did not were swiftly arrested by the Ground units. The Goal was to await for the USS Sandy to arrive and load the POH Materials on board. Once that was completed the team was to exfil back to base Hayward. The Ranger Mecha Team would quickly set up positions on Alpha and Bravo Entrance. [Invokable: X2 Guards on Duty] There were three areas within the Port. Entrance Alpha: Littered with inoperable cars Shipping Yard: Filled with Large Containers of POH Materials and other Goods. Entrance Bravo: Littered with inoperable cars
  15. 17 was successful at getting Lesandra back to safety within the Humvee. Once that was done it was clear that the event quickly turned into a hostile protest against the President. One of the Team Leads would make the call for the group to head back to the base as the city was no longer safe to deal with. For the next few days, things with the Congo Capital and GlenCore were shaky, as civilians had completely taken over the ports and were refusing to allow Glen Core or City workers from importing or exporting goods necessary to upkeeping the POH. Other representatives of NATO were sent into the city in hopes of being able to talk with the President but he was confirmed to be missing in action. None of this was good, and if the situation continued down this path the city would most likely need to be taken over by NATO forces before WARSAW could.
  16. No.17 "...Politics" Normally, nobody would have heard the faintest murmur leave No.17's lips, save for Remy through her communicator. No.17's voice was wry with irony and a hint of weary contempt. He had begun, unconsciously, down that most particular route unique to intelligence agents and similarly grey agents of the state, who began to recognize the inherent flaws that such policies might produce. When the civilians began turning against them, No.17 pulled out an extendable baton and extended it length-wise, using it to push back the crowd. He wasn't about to lay about it just yet, but he was certainly shoving the most eager ones away in an attempt to clear up space for an escape with the Principal. ---- Action: Defending with Melee: Result of 6, Normal Success ---- Trackers ---- No.17 PILOT ASPECTS Self View: Humanity's Product Social Type: Silent, Investigative Type Trauma: Occupational Paranoia Pilot Style: The Second Route of Assassination Dream: Freed of the Bonds of Duty SKILLS +4: Melee +3: Agility, Toughness +2: Investigation, Situational Awareness, Mental Fortitude +1: Contacts, Mechanics, Medical, Diplomacy Stunts: Martial Exemplar: +1 Free Invocation when performing Melee-related CaAs Whirling Dervish: When being attacked by more than one individual enemy, gain +2 to Melee Trained Bodyguard: Once per combat, take a single attack meant for someone else in the same zone, defending with half stats(minimum of 1) ---- Mecha: Lie Vante Lie Vante Design Concept: Melee-Focused Assassin Design Flaw: "Get me closer so I can hit them with my sword!" 17. No. 17 managed to quickly reach the back of the stage in order to get to the Lesandra Glenn who was the VIP of the event. Currently she was being held in place by the Congo Private Security Team who was also charged with guarding the president. Once close enough the Security would nod to No.17 who was then placed in control of Lesandra and she was quickly escorted to the Humvee to be taken to safety. While this was happening, another person would hop onto the stage and with a Bullhorn begin playing a recorded entry from a small device. The message being played was that of the Congo President and a Famous Terrorist who was known to have been operating within the Red Zones outside of the City. Before it could finish the person was removed from the stage and the bullhorn removed. When the crowd realized what just had happened, violence quickly began to ensue. Before No.17 was able to get Lesandra to the Humvee, they were clearly surrounded by hostile civilians. Within seconds they began to attempt to grab at her in order to take her hostage or maybe even attack her. " Please dont hurt us!" Lesandra would beg them as she attempted to evade being grabbed. 18. No.17 "..." No.17 was silent as he watched the suspect cuffed and roughly handled into the back of a waiting van, no doubt armored and with an escort to take them to some very dark and cramped cells. However, there was the faintest of frowns present on his face. In his mind, if the intel had been better, perhaps they could have bagged the lot of them, and neatly transported them down to hidden facilities where they could be made to speak far more quickly and efficiently than the law would allow. Raising a hand, he waved lightly to indicate that he was alright, ignoring the twinge of pain in his side. The wound was light and could be tended to early on. Moving forward, he began slipping through the commotion to get to the VIP, in order to escort her out. ---- Action: None ---- Trackers ---- No.17 PILOT ASPECTS Self View: Humanity's Product Social Type: Silent, Investigative Type Trauma: Occupational Paranoia Pilot Style: The Second Route of Assassination Dream: Freed of the Bonds of Duty SKILLS +4: Melee +3: Agility, Toughness +2: Investigation, Situational Awareness, Mental Fortitude +1: Contacts, Mechanics, Medical, Diplomacy Stunts: Martial Exemplar: +1 Free Invocation when performing Melee-related CaAs Whirling Dervish: When being attacked by more than one individual enemy, gain +2 to Melee Trained Bodyguard: Once per combat, take a single attack meant for someone else in the same zone, defending with half stats(minimum of 1) ---- Mecha: Lie Vante Lie Vante Design Concept: Melee-Focused Assassin Design Flaw: "Get me closer so I can hit them with my sword!" 19. Remy Concorde For the first time in hours, Remy sighed in relief, allowing herself to truly relax for a moment. The event was ruined, sure. But the bad stuff that happened was well handled. Damage control was working. The team's intervention was a success. So far. And then she snapped back to attention. So far. The workday wasn't over. They should continue keeping an eye on things until the VIP's return to the high-security area. And so she returned to looking for more threats while 17 handled the situation on the ground. ---- Action: none. ---- Trackers Expert Sighted Gun (1 Free Invocation) Humanity's Successor (1). 20. No.17 managed to successfully subdue his attacker as he quickly fell to the floor after being struck. Remy's target also successfully fell to the ground as her bullet managed to incapacitate the target. Sadly for the target, its group members did not turn around to save them thus decided to leave them there. Within seconds, the other military soldiers had made it to No.17 and assisted him in handcuffing and escorting the subject to their Humvee.
  21. Remy Concorde Remy took notice of the event that moved furthest from the crowd out of the corner of her eye, finished taking one more breath, and let her body fluidly realign the barrel towards the target, pulling the trigger as the vector of the bullet's flight path intersected with the intended destination. She then froze for a split second, assessing the result and mentally preparing for the next shot. ---- Action: shoot to incapacitate one of the attackers. Spending the Free Invocation from Humanity's Successor and 1 more Mental Stress to bring this up to a Success With Style. ---- Trackers Expert Sighted Gun (1 Free Invocation) Humanity's Successor (2 -> 1). Mental stress taken: 2 out of 6. ---- Remy Concorde PILOT ASPECTS: Self View: Humanity's Successor For good or ill, Remy acknowledges being designed as the next best thing after natural humans. Harder, Better, Faster, Smarter. And something that was built as an improvement is bound to eventually outcompete its predecessor. Not out of malice, but due to the nature of things. Not with fanfare and pride, but with a matter-of-fact shrug. Sooner or later, a Gattaca of sorts would become the new norm, and Remy is the aloof herald of that era, neither celebrating the world to come, nor mourning the old world. 22. No.17 Now that the crowd had begun to move, however, it was No.17's element. He was everywhere and nowhere at once, a grey blur making ample use of the panicked droves of civilians, ingrained training kicking into action. Lunging, No.17 knocked the pistol up towards the air with his knife's edge, before executing a lightning backhand stroke towards the man's tendons. ---- Defense roll: Melee Defense SWS Melee roll to try and subdue the man: +10 after using Boost and Free Invoke from the recent CaA ---- Trackers ---- No.17 PILOT ASPECTS Self View: Humanity's Product Social Type: Silent, Investigative Type Trauma: Occupational Paranoia Pilot Style: The Second Route of Assassination Dream: Freed of the Bonds of Duty SKILLS +4: Melee +3: Agility, Toughness +2: Investigation, Situational Awareness, Mental Fortitude +1: Contacts, Mechanics, Medical, Diplomacy Stunts: Martial Exemplar: +1 Free Invocation when performing Melee-related CaAs Whirling Dervish: When being attacked by more than one individual enemy, gain +2 to Melee Trained Bodyguard: Once per combat, take a single attack meant for someone else in the same zone, defending with half stats(minimum of 1) ---- Mecha: Lie Vante Lie Vante Design Concept: Melee-Focused Assassin Design Flaw: "Get me closer so I can hit them with my sword!" 23. " Im glad you feel that way, I have no objections." This voice was clearly that of someone from the UK. As No.17 feinted forward the man would quickly read 17's movements. Managing to back up the man would quickly remove a pistol and take a shot toward No.17. As this was taking place Remy would notice the group attempting to leave through the southern part of the field and into a small alleyway. Distance would be the only DC which would be a +2 due to her using a sniper.
  24. Remy Concorde Remy took a deep breath, giving herself a few seconds to relax. Shooting the assassins in the crowd right now was rather unwise, both because they blended well and due to collateral concerns. Waiting too long was also unacceptable, as they would disappear into the alleys in a matter of seconds. There would be at best a split-second opportunity between the former and the latter, and she would have to make the one perfect shot in that time. There would be no time to line it up. She would have to make it count, to incapacitate a runner with a snap shot. Everything hinged on reflex and instinct. And that was something she could bet on. She adjusted the rifle zoom to minimum, taking in the big picture, chilling like a spring, preparing to snap the target into the crossroads upon seeing the moment of opportunity. ---- Action: Will+2 CaA using Psych Up Stunt to add Invocations to Humanity's Successor. 26. No. 17 managed to lightly tap the gun up just before the man was able to take the shot causing the bullet to go flying over the heads of the speakers. Instantly the crowd became a stampede as everyone began pushing and shoving to get out of the way. Looking back the man would quickly turn their body and attempt to strike No.17 in the face with weapon. The other members of the group would quickly scatter throughout the crowd in an attempt to get away. New Scene Aspect Chaos in the Crowds The Man Attacks No.17 with a +4 attempt.
