Pokemon Tabletop Adventures

Detailed Description

After sailing around the various regions of the world on the S.S. Anne for the better part of a decade, Gentleman Arthur Brooks has finally decided to return home to Kalevia to found the first multi-regional Pokemon academy. With the vast fortune he has accumulated over the years, he has also managed to recruit talented instructors from various regions.

However, an academy is nothing without its students. And as such, Gentleman Brooks has sent recruiters to each of the regions in order to advertise and scout promising talent. With the promise of a full tuition, as well as room and board, it is only a matter of time before this academy can begin bearing fruit.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. Thank you for letting me know and trying to keep it running for me. I'm usually up for a game, so I will keep an eye out. I had a lot of fun, thank you again.
  3. Unfortunately, I just don't have it in me to continue running this game. So I'm going to end it here. Thank you for playing. If I end up running a game you're interested in playing in the future, just let me know and I'll reserve you a spot.

Out of his own Pokémon, he could field two or three that'd have a type advantage, but they didn't have particularly strong attacks that'd be useful in a Pokémon battle against Sara's fighting types. "Hmm, I could go try and catch another Pokémon... Or, I can work with my current partners," Calder looks away from the newspaper and stares up at the ceiling (or sky if he's outside). Going over potential team combinations in his head, Calder sighs before standing and heading off to switch out some of his Pokémon to start some additional training. Out of Character Calder will switch out Spark and Ratatoskr for Serket and Neto. Swift: Free: Shift: Standard:
  5. Unfortunately, Calder could not find a public version of the school database. He did, however, find Sara's social media page. There are several photos of her training while in a boxing uniform or posing with fighting type Pokemon. More recently, there are photos of Sara with a Scraggy or Tyrogue. And she has a picture with her teammates for the Catching Course practical. There is one short interview about Sara in the school newspaper. In the interview, they talk about Sara's love for boxing, her relationship with fighting Pokemon, and what she hopes to gain from being a Pokemon trainer.
  6. If possible, Calder will check if there is a basic school directory first. He is not a skilled hacker, but would at least try to see if there is a student version. If there's not, he'll do a general search for a social media page for Sara to see if they have any posts about their Pokemon. If there's no social media, he'll check school newspaper. If there's nothing in the school paper, he'll just do the leg work and go to see if he can find her and chat a bit and offer information about himself in return.
  7. What type of information are you looking for and how do you plan to find it? Basic research such as online newspaper (school newspaper) or use of a basic search engine would fall under General Education. If you're looking to search through a student database (school database?), you may need to hack to access such information, and this would fall under Technology Education. Or you may need to find access through another method. Whichever you're looking for, I would need an appropriate skill check.

  9. "If there are no other questions, then you are all dismissed." The students and some of the staff leave, but Instructor Delacroix can be seen staying behind talking to some of the judges. On the bulletin board, Calder's first opponent can be clearly seen. He will be facing Sara in the first round.

While he continued listening to the Instructor, Calder's mind started to visualize his schedule and times for training and how he should configure his team. Remembering he was listening to the Instructor talking, he shook the thoughts out of his head and tried to focus. Out of Character Swift: Free: Shift: Standard:
  11. "The matches will take place here, at one of the academy's battle arenas," says Instructor Delacroix. "The two individuals for each match must agree upon a time and day before the deadline. Judges will be designated and they will oversee and judge the match. Judges will be available here at the facility at all times, so there will be no excuse as to why you cannot complete your matches. Now, you may be wondering when the deadline for your first match is. The deadline for the first match is the day your Investigation course ends. You may complete your practicum before your match, but your match must be completed by the same day. Groups and pairings will be posted on the bulletin board for easy reference."

He did noticed that he was the only student from House Espeon in Group C, which made him a little nervous but excited him at the same time. Hearing Callisto's name, Calder thinks back to the first day and their interaction in the nurse's office. Before his matches, he wanted to do some investigating on his competitors. "This will be fun. Time for some additional training," says Calder quietly to himself. Then realizing he had another question rose his hand. If chosen he'll ask, "Will the matches be set at a certain time and place? Or will we need to find the person, challenge them, and then find a judge to start the match?" Out of Character Swift: Free: Shift: Standard:
  13. Instructor Delacroix calls on Calder and listens to the question. "Do not worry. Everyone will get at least nine matches in the Round Robin to prove their capabilities as a tactical trainer. So long as you attend each of your Round Robin matches and abide by the rules, you will not receive a failing grade." "Now, I will announce the grading criteria and the groupings. You can find this information on the bulletin board later." Seeing the chairs set up, Calder went to find a chair near the rest of his house seeming a little crestfallen but perking back up while Instructor Delacroix spoke of the year-long competition. He hadn't really done much battling against other trainers yet, but it was a great opportunity to get experience and if he did well, he would get a prize and higher grades. Then, almost as soon as the idea popped into his head of it helping him with better grades, Calder worried if he was knocked out early in the round robin that he would fail. When Instructor Delacroix asked if there were any questions, Calder raised his hand and waited to be called. When called upon, Calder asked: "Instructor, you mentioned that if we win we would get the highest grade in the course. What happens to the students who are knocked out of the competition early on? Would they fail the course?" Out of Character Swift: Free: Shift: Standard:
  15. Previous Post: After talking to Professor Semyonov, Calder was able to talk to Instructor Hwa about using GPS capabilities in the Pokedex. Instructor Hwa seemed slightly amused and ensured Calder she would work on it, but that it would take some time to implement the features. Calder was also able to verify the identity of the stones he found from the Academy Store. They were indeed elemental stones. After a few days of rest, during which time he was able to catch and train Pokemon, Calder began the Investigation Course. This course was led by Instructor Semyonov's brother, Instructor Dmitri Semyonov. During the first two weeks, Calder learned about socializing with other people to gather information, subtle interrogation techniques, researching, and cooperating with Pokemon to achieve goals such as tracking. It was at this time, at the middle-point of the course, that Calder and the other students would be instructed to head toward one of the large battle arenas. The students were gathered in a large room. There were enough chairs for all of the students, as well as for staff that did not look like normal instructors. Instead, they were wearing matching uniforms. Their shirts were in red, yellow, green, and blue. Like the students, they were also chattering amongst themselves. Once everyone was present and seated, a man with long red hair and a black and white uniform that seemed to suit that of an elegant battle commander walks toward the front of the room. "Greetings, everyone. I am Instructor Delacroix. I am here to oversee the Tactical Combat Competition. Unlike normal competitions, this competition will not happen all at once. Instead, you will all be engaging in Pokemon Battles throughout the academic year. You will have time to scout your opponents and prepare the best team to defeat your opponent. And, of course, your results will determine the grade you receive in this course." "This competition will begin with a Round Robin format. Students will be divided into one of eight groupings, each containing a pool of 10 students. At the end of the Round Robin, the top two students from each grouping will advance to participate in a single-elimination tournament. The winner of this competition not only receives the highest grade in the course, but a special prize from me." Instructor Delacroix then motions for all of the staff members to stand up and turn toward the students. "These individuals will be the judges for the battles. They will judge the battles impartially and their rulings are final. Any rules pertaining to the matches will be supplied to the participants well before the match begins." "Are there any questions?"
  16. We should be in a good position to continue. I can catch up on whatever I'm working on later as it's not critical to running the game right now. I'll get a game thread up shortly.
  17. Awesome, thank you. My sheet has been updated, still working on adding them to the character thread in the Stored in PC post
  18. That's good to know. What level are the new Pokemon Calder has caught? this way I can get them added to my sheet Also, I didn't think you had forgotten. I just figured you were busy. thank you for the update
  19. Also, you are capable of catching a Pokemon and training them during the same downtime.
  20. I haven't forgotten about this game. I should complete the trainers' downtime sometime this week. And we can continue the game after that.
  21. I am 50% done with the other trainers' downtime.
  22. For Coho Urban, you can choose between an Igglybuff, Rattata, or Snubbull. For Almaco Cove, you can choose between a Shellder, Machop, or Scrafty.
  23. Cool! I add the downtime post to my character thread. I hope it's a good format, it helps me keep track of things more easily.
  24. I added a list of areas to choose from in the Downtime thread. It will be listed in the description for the Catching a Pokemon downtime action.
