  1. I thought about Shield as well, but as a Thaumaturge I probably won't have enough actions to spare for it, and while Mage Hand is great I think character-wise I think Silas is somewhat compelled to pick something different than Alandri

"Typical Malfore, cutting the line and taking the best bits," Silas says - perhaps facetiously, perhaps not, but always with a tone like heated silk and a slight smirk. "Well, in the words of some great philosopher or another, communication is key."

Silas steps forward, strokes his chin with thumb and forefinger for a moment, and reaches out to the symbol resembling pursed lips.

Silas obliges Thandeka with a polite nod, clearly happy to lend a hand (or paw), smiling ever so slightly as the priestess' idea unfolds.

Silas snorts and folds his arms languidly, tilting his head to one side.

"I think Anchor Root should do it. None of us know how. And you may call this conjecture, but I believe that the relationship between spirits and objects is symbolic in many ways. What matters to the spirit, in my humble opinion, is that the effort is made by one who knows what it represents and shares those feelings. Which, as nonadherents all, we do not, sympathize as we may or mayn't. So who better to carve the bone, than the Bonekeeper-to-be?"

Silas punctuates his remark with an eyebrow waggle and a confident smirk towards the nervous Gnoll.

  6. I like it as a critical effect - depending on the gun, you can describe it as hitting he body in just the right way for the effect to make sense. Sure a crit with a shotgun at close range will knock a Medium and possible Large creature back and/or down - the classic 'full load to the chest' - but a handgun or rifle could hit a body part a certain way, etc.

As we're already 3rd level, will magic equipment become a thing? If so, then we can get a lot more leeway to do silly stuff with guns

  7. Pretty sure Rapid Reload works with Musket Master, so that gives you move action reload with two-handed firearms (as well as one-handers and heavy crossbows froom the base feat)

  8. Lucky find for me, it can be a slog trying to pick out character images that aren't straight high fantasy. At least we're humans, sometimes the toughest thing is finding images of other races with some variety. I'm a big fan of Ratfolk, for example, and I've found it can be handy to look for art form other game systems.

  9. spacer.png"These are hobgoblins. That may complicate things," mutters Brother Bruti, who attempts to shake some of the blood from his sword with a long-suffering grimace. "Should probably stick closer together. Where I come from, they're pretty well organized and basically warriors from birth. Don't recall anybody mentioning Hobs in town, so we may be dealing with a group that's run well enough to deploy their smaller cousins without revealing their own presence. More going on here than we know."

Bruti frowns, shrugs, and reaches down to wipe the blood on the garments of his most recent victim, then moves to rejoin the marching order.

  10. I'll make a note to grab some items when we get back to town

What I mean is, do you want a note about what reaction I'd want to use, or will you prompt us for reactions if/when the situation arises?

  11. I think you've got to rule all pistols (revolver or semi-auto) as light. There really isn't a difference IRL, there are little handguns that weigh only a couple pounds and big ones with heavy loads that weight 7 or more, revolvers and semis alike. I wouldn't call a sawed-off light, though, more because of the recoil than the weight, and it should probably have a penalty if fired one-handed. But I am curious about them, because as a Firebrand I want access to some kind of scatter weapon for my Dragon's Breath cartridges, but a Masterwork Dragon Pistol costs less than a standard shotgun at these prices (400 vs 500).

What I really want is a revolver that I can put dragon's breath cartridges in if I want to. And to be fair, there are a few revolvers in real life that can load regular bullets as well as shot cartridges (the S&W Governor can load shotgun shells and two types of .45, for example, and there are probably a dozen similar revolvers). How do I do that?

  12. Personally I like the flanking rules, but I think it's fine to leave them out.

Speaking of torches, etc, I kind of assumed I got the basic gear in the explorer's pack (or adventurer's pack) so I should have some torches and rations? If not then nbd but I'm so used to taking it as a given that you get that when you don't start at level 1 with background/class equipment. Maybe that's just the games I've played, my oversight if not. Not that Bruti has a free hand anyway, but I thought I was choosing not to use a torch rather than not having one.

BTW I can cast a spell as a reaction when something provokes an AoO instead of making a melee attack, how are we handling stuff like that, if/when it does come up?

  13. 5 damage on a 24 attack roll and it's a wrap for hobgoblin number two (at least I assume it's a hobgoblin, being large and red. Big fan of hobgoblins)

Clerical things that Brother Bruti doesn't do will be one of his recurring gimmicks

  14. spacer.pngBruti moves from the fallen attacker, advancing on the remaining one with another slash of his scimitar.

"To be fair, I don't really do absolutions anyway," he says, his voice an audible shrug, as the blade sings through the air and into the flesh of the goblinite.

  15. spacer.pngHearing the voices of the goblinoids and the sounds of blades being drawn, Brother Bruti pauses for just a split-second, mouthing something unintelligible that causes his scimitar to ripple ever-so-slightly with divine energies. Then he rushes into the cave, where he sees Kaspar on the ground and under attack from what he assumes are probably Hobgoblins. Advancing on the nearest miscreant, he voices his annoyance.

"Deus has many faces, and very few of them will mind if I kill you. You are encouraged to drop your weapons and surrender," he says before slashing his blade at the foe.

  16. That's a little involved but I'm sure it works. When I moved over to Baldr it took me forever to realize I originally signed up with an email that's been largely inactive for years and had to jump through so many verification hoops, drove me nuts.

  17. I can't stand Pinterest, I just do an image search and use my incredible SEO powers to find what I want. Pinterest is always trying to get me to sign up for their dumb service and they can get bent

I'm from the old Internet, where anonymity was easy and you could get away with nearly anything, so I'm pretty resistant to stuff like "signing up" and "paying for things"
