I think this is a shame that you have felt that the game has lost steam; I feel there was still potential in finishing this campaign/game and meeting up with a dragon? However I will go with the majority here; thank you for running this game and taking the time to DM it much appreciated.

Thank you for the kind words. The dragon was still pretty far away, except if you would have the bad luck of accidentally running into it.

It's a shame, but I guess inevitable, I'm going to have to save Katya to use somewhere else cause she was a treat to play. Good luck in future game, maybe we'll play again together soon. Thanks very much for running the game as far as you did @Shocker, for what it's worth, I enjoyed it.

I think your Katya was a very interesting character with incredible potential. If you would be so kind to send me some feedback via pm about what you liked and where you think I could have done a better job. This was also my first campaign so I want to use this also as a learning experience.

I learned that I don’t particularly like premade modules.
also any future campaign will no longer have flanking involved.

  3. The total lack of any responses since Sunday makes me believe, that this campaign has lost it’s steam/appeal. Still would like to hear back from you, but I propose to abandon this. There is no point in torturing anybody by making them participate.

@Siryuu, @tyrtaeus @JubalBreakbottle @Dorik please let me know what you are thinking.

Being asked about the Collegio Magica, sends Omar into a deep reverie, how to best describe the wonderful hort of knowledge especially about the magical arts, without compromising it’s location.

So he results in quite a few raised eyebrows as he answers a question posed long ago, with the conversation having moved on without him noticing.

The Collegio Magica is a shining beacon of knowledge, I have been studying among the greatest minds of the south, learning the ways of the arcane knowledge, delving into the recorded secrets of this plane and others. To manipulate the energy of nature and the ether. But the Collegio does not grant the status of master, without going in the journey, leaving the sacred halls of study and gather new information for the next generation to study. So I have now 5 years in which to make a significant discovery, this is why I came to the North because where there is strife and crisis, there is opportunity.

Omar acknowledges the Elven Ranger's arrival with a bow.

"Excuse me, sir, do you not know of the Giant attacks that have happened recently? Perhaps this is the danger being spoken of."

"I have heard of those indeed, they are one of the reasons I'm travelling to the north, in hope to bring aid to the people there. I'm a journeyman, travelling to new places for the gathering of new information and learning in hope to achieve the status of Master Wizard to the Collegio Magica."

"Considering the amount of lore kept at the Collegio, the task to find something new is indeed daunting"

Omar reintroduces himself to Lidda "Most pleased to make your acquaintance Lidda Hilltopple, my name is Baldul, Omar Baldul. I know it's a bit hard on some tongues, so please call me Omar if it pleases you."

"We've spoken of goblins earlier. It's possible you may run into some, particularly if you're headed for Nightstone. I'm on my way there for that exact reason; they have requested assistance from volunteers. If you're worried about the trip, there are plenty of us headed to Nigthstone, so you needn't travel alone unless you want to."

Omar considers her words, both those spoken to him as well as the others, Lidda seems to be knowledgeable in many areas. "So goblins were a problem here as well, how interersting"

"Indeed, it is much safer and fortuitous to travel in company than to wander alone. It's not just the shared burden but the shared stories I cherish. I'd be very glad to be accepted in your company."

He finally turned to the Dwarf

"Forgive my bad manners Master Dwarf in not properly greeting you before, are you also traveling to Nightstone?"

"another one of those strong fighters, the problems in the north are attracting valiant heroes. The situation must be dire." he thinks evaluating Yod's appearance.

  6. The Gnome is visibly confused by the lights and how quickly his contraption is falling apart. He spins it around wildly targeting the bear shaped Katy, glowing Makaria and Vala all at one time. He wants his one shot to count, ultimately he settles on the paladin. And fires his last shot.

  7. Makaria's witch bolt shears off another of the previously undamaged weapon arms. At the same time as the bolt's energy is leaving her body, Makaria feels a tingling sensation, from all of her body tiny motes of light come out and hover 2 inches from her form. Casting the area around her in a multitude of flickering colorful lights.

Hey, fancypants," she yells over to Omar, "don't trouble just mean trouble?"

Omar looks down at his pants looking up at Sassamona and answered with a smile "These pants are fancy indeed dear Lady, but I'm more commonly called Omar Baldul (he pronounces it with emphasis on the dul part) . But for your question? This is indeed a deeply philosophical problem. There is trouble at hand, which certainly is different from borrowed trouble or again different from trouble to come. There are events that trouble the soul and should be avoided, then there is trouble which is in our power to be rectified, which we must do. So no I think there are to many forms of trouble to say it is just one thing."

He stands up and step over to Sassamona and Liddy bowing from the waist "I'm very sorry if my answer didn't help in your debate, but please consider that I'm a stranger here, and in my homeland we might have a different understanding what is meant by trouble than in these lands. Please help me understanding what the trouble is you are talking about. I'm a lonely traveler on my way to Nightstone, and being forewarned is being forearmed."

The door opens again and a black haired man with dusky skin steps in, taking great care closing the door behind him and shutting out the bad weather outside

"The gods bless all assembled here." he announces to the assembled guests in a sonorous baritone. . His style of clothing is what one would call extravagant, under a purple coat with red lining he wears lose black pants sticking in boots, and a black tunic embroidered on the arms and neck with gold thread and held together by a crimson sash.

"I was hoping to find here a quarter for the night and something hot to eat. Your northern weather is a bit chill for me."

He acquires from Glenys a bowl of noodles and some hot apple cider and looks around for an empty chair or table to sit down with his meal. spotting an empty table he settles down and let his eyes wander over the assembled crowd. Thinking "this is already a pretty lively crowd, I better observe this a bit to learn their customs. I wouldn't want to cause an incident"

  10. The bears claws rake broad furrows in the mesh cage surrounding the gnome, but you fail the get a hold of him. This is certainly getting his attention, if he was startled before he now is down right terrified by such a large foe in his cave. Future will show if it is wise to try to intimidate an armed gnome.

  11. When do you intend to start the game, I have an extended trip planned, but should easily be able to maintain the required post rate via phone, but as you said it’s less fun on a little screen.

Yes Katya has turned into a regular size spider, and decided to take a position above the gnome. Not sure how well Makaria would see such a small target based on the distance.

  14. Omar Baldul

    BalorDaghulpicsmall.png.9cbfad877608f22ba6ab3f5662f861c9.png

    Name: Omar Baldul

Character Concept: Omar Baldul dedicted his life to become a Master Wizard, but it takes more than book learning to do so, he has to quest for knowledge and experience.

Race, Background, Subclass Class: Human, Sage, Evocation Wizard

Description: Omar's dusky face is gaunt and hook nosed, intelligent grey eyes watch carefully for any opportunity to exploit. He wears a black tunic and pants embroidered with gold thread, and accentuated with a red sash and purple cape with red lining. If you say one thing of Omar Baldul, say he doesn't try to blend with the background.

Your Character’s Plothook: The North with his unexplored lands and dangers is the kind of new frontier a wizard in the making has to seek out. To hone his craft and discover new secrets to add to the lore of the College.

Past is Prologue: Growing up as the son of a Spice Merchant in the South, Omar Baldul was excited when he learned that he had enough of a magical spark, to be accepted at the Collegio Magica or College of Wizardry. The ancient repository of magical knowledge. He entered it's doors as a youth of 13 and was swallowed whole. Quickly learning that his natural talents could be improved by steady study and practice, he dedicated every waking moment to the study of the arcane knowledge and mysteries of creation and the universe. Driven by the desire to become a master of those forces. He made and lost friends along the way, and after 12 years of intense study, he passed his examinations to be one of the few to be allowed entry to the assembly of Master Wizards. The Grandmaster of the College, informed the graduates that they had completed the first step in their Journey, but that they needed to face the unknown, to grow their knowledge and art. They should consider themselves Journeymen and if they wished could return after 5 years, to show the assembly that they could add to the host of knowledge maintained by the College.

For the first time in over a decade Omar stepped through the gates to the outside world. Choosing where to go. He had heard rumors about the wild and mysterious North. It seemed to be the right place to begin his journey to the future, after all the south was his past. On his way North he heard rumors about Nightstone and directed his way there.

Deity: Corellon. Once Omar began studying the magical arts it became obvious to him, that full dedication to his art would never achieved if he didn't also embrace Corellon. With the same devotion he had spent on reading old tomes and practicing the arcane hand movements he dedicated his beliefs to the God or magic and art. Shedding the beliefs he might have held before entirely.

Is Might Right? The might coming from magical power does not excuse it's wielder form standing up for what is right. It just makes it more important to do so.

Music: Omar is lacking subtlety but is a power house, you see him when he makes an entrance. Queen Princes of the Universe not taking no for an answer Queen Don't stop me now But he is following his vision

(sorry if you expected more variety, but all that needs to be said can be said with said with Queen)

AFAIK Gilavar was at the front, provided he called into the room, doing move and talk:

image.png.c93736075761c6718f354ee1f596c93e.pngBut even if he retreated, his turns comes after the Gnome in the initiative bracket.
Vala even let him move and talk, and she took her defensive stance before combat started:

    image.png.704a289994e69822a0052bedc0dd5e4c.png

Hold your horses @Siryuu, @JubalBreakbottlemoved his character on his turn which occurred right after the gnome fired his first salvo into the opposite direction. I had taken that into consideration when I targeted your character on the gnomes next turn.

  16. I admit to having overlooked the posted dodge action, in that post. But I will not accept defensive stance as an automatic declaration of a dodge action. So I’m not entirely sure what that second post is about.

if you feel I do not get your intended actions, state them clearly. You wrote you move backwards, where do yo move to and how far? If you don’t provide that information I will rule your position based on MY understanding where you are. In this case still in the line if sight of the crossbow. I’ll take back the ruling about your character being hit, but I must insist on clarity of action declaration for the future.

  17. 6 hours ago, Siryuu said:

Since Vala took a defensive stance from the moment Gilavar talked to the gnome mounted on a turret, I believe both attacks must be rolled with disadvantage. On the other hand, Vala is not in the line of sight or immediately visible.

If you had taken the dodge action, attack rolls would have been with disadvantage. You did not declare such an action. The attack hits.
