I have been planning on GMing a game for a long time. This might be the exact push that I need to finally get something started. I can't guarantee I can join this initiative at a specific time, but I think I could start a module for Pathfinder 1e soon-ish.

Nothin to it, but to do it. 🙃

  2. Mordel gives Gray a boost and the warrior scampers up the tree. After reaching a spot in the tree that gives him a respectable view, Gray begins searching for anything of interest that may help them track the worm.

At first, Gray can make out nothing in the darkened forest. After several minutes, his eyes begin adjusting to the surroundings. Nothing obvious jumps out to him at first. Then, just as he is about to give up, he spots... something.

In the darkened forest, Gray can't really make out what he is seeing. But something definitely has caught his eye. Off in the distance something is breaking up the uniformity of the trees. Whether natural or manmade is hard to tell, but something, some sort of structure, is definitely out there.

  3. As the bodies begin to rise from their place on the ground, Grin cuts his eyes from the monstrous statue and locks them on the worm infested corpse shambling his way. He turns and faces it with torch raised out in front of him. "Well, that didn't take long," he calls out merrily.

Switching the torch from his good hand to his off hand, Grim quickly pulls the dagger tucked away inside his belt. He calls out for Mutt as he begins backing away from the things reaching fingers. "Mutt! A little help here!"

The dog rushes out of the shadows and leaps at the walking piece of worm food. The dog flies through the air, all snarls and snapping teeth, but comes up short in the attack.

"Stupid dog!" Grin cackles maddenly. With a snarl of his own, he steps forward and lashes out with the knife. The blade passes harmlessly through the air, sending him into a giggling fit. "Takes one to know one, it would seem!"

  4. The party begins scouring the forest floor trying to once again pick up the trail. After several moments Gemlia lets out a triumphant cry. She has picked up the trail of the worm! Aided by the others, the dwarf sets off following the trail.

This time the companions manage to follow for a few hundred yards before it is lost again. The party find themselves deep in the forest. Here it is dark and cool. And quiet. No animals can be heard scampering about the trees limbs above. No birds can be heard chirping and singing. Just an eerie silence hanging in the air...

OocIf you want to search the area or try to pick up the trail again, I'll need rolls. Anyone can roll. Whoever wants to look/search can. Just let me know what you are searching for/doing.

  5. With Gray, Gemlia, and Mort leading the way, the party enters the forest, following the trail of the worm.

At first, the trio has no problem making out the trail, but as the companions progress further into the forest, the trail gets harder to follow. The forest floor grows heavy with underbrush and debris. Large knotty tree roots stretch out covering the ground.

After roughly 50 yards the trail seems to run cold...

One day I might scrounge my courage together and going to run a module, noob GM for noob players. Let's all crash and burn.

PbP is a great way to break into GMing. The slower pace provides for a more relaxed environment than a live game does, which allows time to look up rules, consider responses and make decisions without the pressure of immediate improvisation. Give it a shot. You'll do better than you give yourself credit for.

Don't know if you guys saw it, but the 4th edition of BFRPG just hit Amazon. Also available for free on the BFRPG site, of course. Inflation being what it is, they had to raise the price of the softcover print to $8.50. Still a pretty dang good deal!

Not that I need another RPG book, but I'll definitely be getting this. I can't help myself. They're for educational purposes, dammit! A fella can't have to much education. That's my story anyway.

  8. The companions set out following the trail left by the worm. The trail is actually nothing more than slightly raised earth, here and there, in a somewhat westerly direction.

The trail is fairly easy to follow until it reaches the treeline. Once it enters the forest it gets much harder to follow.

OocOk, so who's leading this shindig? I'll need two of you out front tracking. And I'll need some rolls for tracking this thing into the forest, if that is the intent. I'll allow either an INT or WIS roll for tracking, whichever is best for the two trying.

  9. I love 3.5. I'm playing in two 3.5 games over on Tavern Keeper right now. I might could be persuaded to run a game here on Myth Weavers. I just had a Gurps Old West game and a 5E game come to an end last week and the week before, respectively, so would have no issues adding another game to my playlist, if enough interest in this. Although, I've been jonesing to get a Tunnels and Trolls game going.

  10. ..."No, my lovelies, the only way out is through, just like everything else."...

Grin looks back and forth between his two newfound companions. His grin widens, seemingly on the verge of splitting his face in half. The grin does not touch his eyes. They remain cold and dead. "Ah! An adventure then!" He giggles merrily. "Excellent!"

He points a dirty and scab encrusted finger down the southern tunnel. "It looks like things opens up down that way."

Moving off, he gathers DumDum's reigns and calls out for Mutt. Without waiting to see if the others are following, Grin begins heading toward the open area.

  11. As the companions begin doing what they can to put out the fire, Mordel turns toward the farmhouse to call out for assistance. His words are cut short as farm hands are already pouring out of the farmhouse and headed toward the corral. Old Aelric brings up the rear and is busy shouting orders to his hands.

In just a matter of moments, the farmhands have a bucket brigade formed. Buckets of water are passed from a well next to the barn, to where the flames are burning. In no time at all, the hands have the flames more or less under control.

As the firefight nears its end, Aeric approaches the companions. He gawks at the giant worm in horror.

"What, pray tell, is that?" The old man asks, shaking his head in disbelief. "Never have I seen such a thing!" He tosses a suspicious glance around at the companions. "Are you sure it's dead?"

  12. Mordel and Kharn move in for attacks on the creature before them. Both companions, frustratingly, miss on their respective attacks.

At the same time, Mort takes aim and tosses the flaming flask of oil at the beast. In the confusion of battle his aim is off and the flask explodes on the ground to the right of the creature. The flask hits the ground and shatters, sending the fiery oil splashing all around.

Mordel and Kharn, fortunately are spared being splattered by the flaming liquid. The great worm, however, isn't as fortunate. The bottom half of the creature is covered with the liquid and is immediately set aflame. In it's rage, the creature manages to sweep out two of its tentacles, one each in the direction of Mordel and Kharn. Mordel manages to scamper out of the way of the reaching tentacle. Kharn, although having one of the appendages brush his neck seems to suffer no ill effects, other than a nasty welt blistering the skin.

Gray and Gemlia race in and attack. Gray comes up short, but the dwarf Gemlia lands a killing blow with her mace. The worm lets out a piercing scream and then collapses to the ground. Flames shoot skyward as the body hits the earth.

The party pauses for a moment, caught up in the exhilaration of the kill. After a moment they notice that the worm isn't the only thing burning. The grass in the corral is burning also. The little five foot area where the flask hit has already doubled in size. Not to mention the area around the fallen worm is starting to spread as well...

OocOk, so the first worm has burrowed back underground. The second worm is dead and still aflame. Not to mention the grass in the corral that was hit with the oil...

  13. Momentarily forgetting the girl missing half her face, Grin follows the robed woman's gaze down to the pile of gore. The creepy grin covering his face never falters. Raising his head, he looks back to the woman with his cold dead eyes. "Just a little human chum. Nothing to lose your lunch over." His voice echoes about the room as he continues speaking way to loudly. He glances about as the echoes begin to die off.

Then, as if remembering something, he looks down at his clothes. They are splattered with blood and viscera from his fall into the dead pile. "Can't have anything nice," he says, brushing away chunks of gunk and goo.

Grin's eyes once again fall on the girl with half a face. He raises the torch higher to get a better look at her. "Well, aren't you a pretty one?" He says, running a tongue over jagged and rotting teeth. "I'm Grin," he says, before nodding his head in the robed womans direction. "That's the Lunch Lady. And who might you be?"
