  1. Just, ah, mentioning that thri-kreen telepathy is one-way communication, I think. Unless someone speaks to him, or has their own way of transmitting telepathic messages, Steve can’t hear anyone else’s thoughts. He would be speaking common, but, well, he can’t speak.

Steve continues to play his strange instrument, as he had been playing it essentially non-stop for at least the last several days. He had occasionally moved to different locations, different bars, but never seemed to stop playing, his music varying more by his mood than anything else. At the genasi's shout, he shrugs indifferently, and although he doesn't stop playing the jar of olives floats seemingly by itself across the barroom to Rush's table.

Overhearing the spelljammers' conversation, he perks up a bit. Being stuck on this planet was getting boring, and he had been feeling like it was time to move on.

<<The Academy?>> he asks, telepathically contacting the beings at their table, and anyone else who happened to be listening mentally in the area, his music continuing uninterrupted. <<I had noticed the pamphlets, but thought you were recruiting for some demonic cult. It wouldn't be the first time. What are you looking for in recruits? A bit of music always helps the long voyages through the spheres, and I'm looking to leave this place for somewhere more... Friendly.>>

At a glance, the thri-kreen looks like most of his kind, essentially nude with several belts and a pack strapped to his back. At his waist are two swords, close to his secondary arms, and in his primary hands is the master-quality cittern he has been playing non-stop. After the olives are deposited with the genasi, the thri-kreen's drink floats up and pours itself in his mouth, between his mandibles. It does not noticeably affect either his playing, or his telepathic communication, as he drinks. <<If you have a place for someone like me, I would be interested in applying. The name is... Call me Steve.>> he communicates, thoughtfully.

Hunni briefly considers pointing out to Arlo what Lady Michelle just said about Kendermore, but figures if he wasn't paying attention, perhaps it is best he doesn't know. "No, silly, that's the giraffe's name. That is a good bear, I think Bear and Crow will be friends. Ooh, look at this, though, my fishbone walker, its name keeps changing," she comments, keeping the kender distracted, and showing him the mechanical fish-bone walking toy she has that moves along on its own. "I bought that from a kender girl, actually. She was really smart, and worked for a gnome inventor. They had all sorts of toys."

Hunni continues playing with her toys as Lady Michelle speaks, for the world appearing not to hear a word the woman says. At Coltan's words, however, she snorts quietly, and glances over at Meri, as though to catch his eye. She then goes back to playing with her toys. "Hi, Kettle, my name is Pot!" she says, under her breath, as she play-talks with a turquoise gorilla and giraffe. She knocks the giraffe over. The gorilla then jumps up and down on the giraffe. Seemingly losing interest in that game, she takes a bit of her string and starts tying knots on a little lizard figurine.

Ellie tosses her hands in the air, as she flutters about over the wagons. "Fine. I guess I knew this day would come," she says, and flies down to the group. "No need to protect me, I just have to face this, I suppose," she sighs to her fellow caravaneers.

Flying slowly towards the mercenaries, with as much dignity as she can muster, Ellie holds her hands up in surrender. "No need for bloodshed, I'll come peacefully. You can let everyone else go."

For the pictures, if you go to the bottom of the new post, there is an option to add a file. Tap that, pick the picture, add it in. To make it float right, double click the picture and it comes up with options to resize or move it right or left. Otherwise, the user guides forum thing is helpful, or just experimenting with buttons. It takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it things start to feel intuitive.

Ellie awakens and stretches, climbing out of the sock she was using as a bedroll, hanging from the ceiling of one of the wagons. With a yawn, she flutters her wings, and flies about, looking around the wagons, taking in the sights of the other members of the convoy thoughtfully. So far, the trip has been rather boring, and so very slow, but its not like she's in a rush to get anywhere. One thing she has is time.

With a strenuous disagreement, Hunni informs Arlo, "Rats are food. Rats are not friends. Name two rats you are friends with! Besides, rats will eat us if given half a chance, so fair is fair. Rats eat rats, too, so no problems there." She continues walking with him.

After taking him to the store, she nods at his words. "Black robes are your best chance. White robes are all stuck on only using magic for things that aren't fun, and red robes want to be respectable and stuff. My master told me there is an old prophesy, that when a kender gets to join the Mages of High Sorcery, there will be another cataclysm. We did fine the last time, though, so I don't know why they get all stuffy about it. White and Red Robes won't tell you that's why they won't let you in, but that's why they won't let you in. Us black robes aren't so prejudice." She frowns a little. "I'm... Not the best at reading or studying, and I don't know that I can teach you anything that will help with the test. But the tests are different for everyone, and are supposed to be hard, so I don't know how I could help you study even if I were the most well-read mage out there. We can practice magic together, though! That could be fun."

At the meeting with Lady Michelle, Hunni reverts back to her less thoughtful persona, playing with her toys rather than paying as much attention. The new members might notice that she doesn't seem to fully trust the Lady, although she has always supported Modri, and wouldn't say as much. She just seems to show less of herself when the other, less-familiar 'talls' are around. "We will find Lord Barakis, and Modri will spank him and his son. It will be fun!" she comments, and continues humming the Lord Barakis song.

As the group spends some time to introduce themselves, Hunni introduces herself to Fairla, Vigdan, and Arlo as 'Hunni Ravenwing Collic, black-robed Adept of High Sorcery.' She seems happy to see Fairla. "A white-robed Mage! How fun. Do you know my friend Decimus? He used to be a white-robe, too, but now he's a fisherman. Thanks to me. I wonder where your robe will take you?" she comments, with a wide, innocent smile, and sparkling eyes. "I think we will have a lot to talk about."

For Vigdan, he seems more standoffish, and quiet, so she doesn't interrupt him much. When she finds out he owns a boat, she is quite impressed, and tries to tell him a story about the time she went fishing, but it doesn't seem she was very good at it, and she didn't catch all that much.

Hunni spends the most time with Arlo, teaching him the Lord Bakaris song, listening to his stories about Uncle Trapspringer, and sharing her stories of That Place. She also shows him her toys, bits of string, ball bearings, and assorted junk, as well as her prize turquoise animal figurines and fishbone contraption that can walk on its own, and doesn't really notice if he borrows any of it from time to time. When he eventually figures out how to use the pipes, she is extremely excited at the idea of unlimited free rats for dinner whenever they want them.

After the battle, Hunni glares and spits at the giant Coltan image that continues screaming, before turning away to look for more opponents to kill. As none are in the immediate area, she does her best to help the others in working the keys, mostly by staying out of the way and watching. When the soldiers come in, she cheers them on, safely, from the sidelines, and pokes at the dead bodies of the soldiers they killed earlier.

    Mostly, she doesn't do much.

At the sight of the treasure, Hunni seems mostly disinterested, although the new (clean) uniforms do interest her, and she changes out her old, battered armor and shield for some new, shiny Dragon Army equipment. Except for the weapons. She already has weapons, and doesn't need or want anything new in that department. Jezebel might get jealous.

Back in Kalaman, as they approach the gates, she seems to remember something. "Oh! Right! The song!" she proclaims, and makes a few gestures with her hands and whip. Music seems to spring from the area around her, and she sings, rather poorly. "♪ ♫ Oh, Bakaris, the legend in his name, His honor shines, his deeds forever sung, His sacrifice, his valor, all the same, A hero’s anthem, from his heart was wrung!♫ ♪" Somehow, she remembers those words; and several more verses, from the bard's performance, which she sings and hums merrily as they move through the town.

After their briefing, she comments to Artanis, "You're probably right. Wish we could just leave him to fail on his own, but the cost to let him learn that lesson would be too great. Well, I'll go check in with Wyhan, see if she's got my test all arranged yet, if I don't have anything else to do, I could go with you."

  13. For some reason, it is taking me longer to do this character than I was expecting. Ugh. Will try to finish up tomorrow.

For the magic item, I was thinking an Instrument of the Bards. Any of the uncommon ones would do, but I like the spells in the Mac-Fuirmidh cittern most, or the Fouchlucan banddore. If that doesn't work for you, then I don't know. A refluffed Helm of Comprehend Languages, that still takes the head slot, but wouldn't look stupid on a giant bug? Or Eyes of the Eagle, that would probably be better than the helm.

Muttering inaudibly to herself, Hunni moves around, trying to get out of the Silence spell so she can do something to the remaining foe. If it means she moves away from the giant Coltan, that's just a bonus. She shakes her whip occasionally as she runs, and when she can hear herself, she turns to look back at the battle. So far away...

Calling on her arcane knowledge again, shakily, with the giant Coltan in view, she whispers at the Captain, who seems to hear her in his mind.

Hunni screams. "Aaaah! Giant Coltan! My one weakness!" she yells in fright, running away and around a corner to hide from the blasted gods' influence. "Someone kill it quick!"

Glaring around, she doesn't seem nearly as disturbed by the dragon and rider bursting from the stables. Her whip does, though, so with a glance at the whip and a glance at the dragon, she rears back and cracks the whip at the monster; strange pointed shadow-stuff forms fly in its direction with a strange buzzing sound, absorbing into its flesh, followed by more forceful shadows that appear to take the form of flying angry hand-axes with eldritch scrawl on their heads.

Hunni also shudders as the soldier yells, and is answered from inside the stables. It is pretty clear that they won't be doing this all stealthy-like after all. "Eh, so be it." RACIAL TRAITS

    • Chameleon Carapace. While you aren’t wearing armor, your carapace gives you a base Armor Class of 13 + your Dexterity modifier. As an action, you can change the color of your carapace to match the color and texture of your surroundings, giving you advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in those surroundings.
    • Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of yourself as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
    • Secondary Arms. You have two slightly smaller secondary arms below your primary pair of arms. The secondary arms can manipulate an object, open or close a door or container, pick up or set down a Tiny object, or wield a weapon that has the light property.
    • Sleepless. You do not require sleep and can choose to remain conscious during a long rest, though you must still refrain from strenuous activity to gain the benefit of the rest.
    • Thri-kreen Telepathy. Without the assistance of magic, you can’t speak the non-thri-kreen languages you know. Instead you use telepathy to convey your thoughts. You have the magical ability to transmit your thoughts mentally to willing creatures within 120 feet of yourself. A contacted creature doesn’t need to share a language with you to understand your thoughts, but it must be able to understand at least one language. Your telepathic link to a creature is broken if you and the creature move more than 120 feet apart, if either of you is incapacitated, or if either of you mentally breaks the contact (no action required).

Seven types of these instruments exist, each named after a legendary bard college. The following table lists the spells common to all instruments, as well as the spells specific to each one and its rarity. A creature that attempts to play the instrument without being attuned to it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or take 2d4 psychic damage.

You can use an action to play the instrument and cast one of its spells. Once the instrument has been used to cast a spell, it can't be used to cast that spell again until the next dawn. The spells use your spellcasting ability and spell save DC.

As for Lazuli, well, they continued collecting bones and, well, growing. Eventually, they split in two, and continued working as a pair. Then, they ate enough to split again.

Rumors swirl about where they stashed the 'mother' fungal bloom, Squishy's hive mind, as it were, but at least they seemed to be loyal, hard working, cannibalistic Fleet officer with silver pins on every one. Even if nobody is quite sure where they got that many pins.
