Gilavar smiles and nods at the gnomes. When they greet them and ask to come in a close the door, he leans back towards his companions, so they can hear him. "They're in here. Come in and close the door."

He follows the left hand wall just enough to allow room for his companions and not crowd the gnomes.

Good, said Vala whilst looking at the rogue. And once the others arrived, she smiled and spoke to the gnomes. Well met, my name is Vala, and we hail from Phandalin in the North*. We are here to warn you of ensuing danger… she made a brief pause as to allow for introductions.

* IIRC Phandalin is North from the gnome's town, if it isn't please assume she mentioned the correct cardinal point.

As the door clicks shut a surprising stillness comes over the room, the ever present noise of the waterfall is completely shut out. Now silence is ringing in your ears.

As you take the time to look around you see a staircase leading downwards to your left. Two of the gnomes are working together on a doughy mass. One of them is squeezing chunks of green msuhrooms through an intricate set of rollers, while the other at the table is taking the green mass and forms loaves out of it.

Another is feeding red mushrooms into a press, and squeezes them hard, catching the released liquid in bottles.

The last one is leaning with a fire poker next to the stove keeping the fire in it blazing.

The gnome that had waved you closer speaks to you "I'm Tervaround. What do folks from Phandalin want in Gnomengard?"

Languages: Common, Elvish, Draconic, Druidic

FeatsObservantQuick to notice details of your environment, you gain the following benefits:

Increase your Intelligence or Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
If you can see a creature's mouth while it is speaking a language you understand, you can interpret what it's saying by reading its lips.
You have a +5 bonus to your passive Wisdom (Perception) and passive Intelligence (Investigation) scores.

 | FeaturesRitual CastingYou can cast a Druid spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell prepared
Wild ShapeStarting at 2nd level, you can use your action to magically assume the shape of a beast that you have seen before. You can use this feature twice. You regain expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Your druid level determines the beasts you can transform into, as shown in the Beast Shapes table. At 2nd level, for example, you can transform into any beast that has a challenge rating of 1/4 or lower that doesn't have a flying or swimming speed.
You can stay in a beast shape for a number of hours equal to half your druid level (rounded down). You then revert to your normal form unless you expend another use of this feature. You can revert to your normal form earlier by using a bonus action on your turn. You automatically revert if you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die.

While you are transformed, the following rules apply:

Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the beast, but you retain your alignment, personality, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain all of your skill and saving throw proficiencies, in addition to gaining those of the creature. If the creature has the same proficiency as you and the bonus in its stat block is higher than yours, use the creature's bonus instead of yours. If the creature has any legendary or lair actions, you can't use them.
When you transform, you assume the beast's hit points and Hit Dice. When you revert to your normal form, you return to the number of hit points you had before you transformed. However, if you revert as a result of dropping to 0 hit points, any excess damage carries over to your normal form, For example, if you take 10 damage in animal form and have only 1 hit point left, you revert and take 9 damage. As long as the excess damage doesn't reduce your normal form to 0 hit points, you aren't knocked unconscious.
You can't cast spells, and your ability to speak or take any action that requires hands is limited to the capabilities of your beast form. Transforming doesn't break your concentration on a spell you've already cast, however, or prevent you from taking actions that are part of a spell, such as Call Lightning, that you've already cast.
You retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source and can use them if the new form is physically capable of doing so. However, you can't use any of your special senses, such as darkvision, unless your new form also has that sense.
You choose whether your equipment falls to the ground in your space, merges into your new form, or is worn by it. Worn equipment functions as normal, but the DM decides whether it is practical for the new form to wear a piece of equipment, based on the creature's shape and size. Your equipment doesn't change size or shape to match the new form, and any equipment that the new form can't wear must either fall to the ground or merge with it. Equipment that merges with the form has no effect until you leave the form.

Circle Form: MoonThe rites of your circle grant you the ability to transform into more dangerous animal forms. Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a beast with a challenge rating as high as 1. You ignore the Max. CR column of the Beast Shapes table, but must abide by the other limitations there.

Starting at 6th level, you can transform into a beast with a challenge rating as high as your druid level divided by 3, rounded down.

Combat Wild ShapeWhen you choose this circle at 2nd level, you gain the ability to use Wild Shape on your turn as a bonus action, rather than as an action.

Additionally, while you are transformed by Wild Shape, you can use a bonus action to expend one spell slot to regain 1d8 hit points per level of the spell slot expended.
<1/2>
Wild CompanionAt 2nd level, you gain the ability to summon a spirit that assumes an animal form: as an action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to cast the Find Familiar spell, without material components.

When you cast the spell in this way, the familiar is a fey instead of a beast, and the familiar disappears after a number of hours equal to half your druid level.

Katya is practically vibrating with excitement at the prospect of meeting the Gnomes when Gilavar ushers them into the room, as the others make their introductions, wanting to wave enthusiastically, she instead opts to attempt to keep a calm, professional expression on her face, the kind she had been taught to wear when introducing oneself for the first time. Unfortunately, even the mention of the ruinous Dragon is not enough to dampen her spirits as her wings flutter rapidly in a short tremorous fashion, ruining the visage of a consummate royal she is attempting to portray.

"It is wonderful to meet you Tervaround, and all of you as well, I am Katya, and it is my companion says, Phandalin and all of the surrounding lands are facing devastation under the wrath of Cryovain, a white Dragon that leaves naught but devastation and pain in its path, one I seek to stop..."

She pauses, wondering how to express her interest in the culture and magic of the Gnomes right after her exposition.

"However, while we are here, we would love to learn about your culture and magic"

She points over her shoulder to the fluttering butterfly wings.

"These for instance, I would love to repeat this spell"

The gnome standing on the table climbs down “A dragon, did you hear that Tervaround?

yes it’s the same story that bossy woman told, the one the king sent away.” Tervaround replied

So perhaps there is something to it?

Ridiculous, no dragon can harm Gnomengard

The other gnome is carefully approaching Katya “I’m Panana, are you saying you didn’t have those magnificent wings forever

the gnome from the fireplace shouts “Don’t be daft Panana, she obviously cast magic here. Do you remember that pompous wizard who was going to give a demonstration of his power, he sure looked ridiculous without that magnificent white hair and beard, just like a plucked chicken.

Panana’s eyes grew wide looking at Katya “You need to be careful if you do magic around a strong source like these mountains.

The Druid is concerned that their warnings have been heard before, yet not taken seriously, and she wonders who the 'bossy' woman was that had tried to warn them before. Perhaps Adabra had been busy while they had gone to see the Dwarves, though it did not seem likely. When the Gnome makes the claim that no Dragon could harm Gnomengard, she feels a knot in her stomach at the memories of the same bravado that the knights of her home claiming the same. The topic swiftly moves to her wings once more, and she feels them flutter again at the mention, looking down to Panana with a soft smile, much preferring their tone.

"I did not acquire them until I was attempting to cast a spell to assist us in finding you all, I should have known such a powerfully magical place would cause some magical feedback, but I am ever so glad I kept my hair"

She looks at Tervaround, questions in her eyes.

"If Gnomengard truly is impervious to Dragons, then perhaps we could speak to the king to find some way of protecting all the poor folk who are unable to defend themselves"

"You Gnomes seem confident that no dragon could harm Gnomegarde? I can assure you that the dragon our friend Katya wouldn't be no push-over but rather a formidable force to contend with. Do you also have any issues with Orcs here? I will be careful in employing magic around these mountains; but if you cannot use magic to defend against a dragon what else is there,"? she asked.

The recent absence of the sound of the waterfall echoing within the caves had brought her a sense of relief, a sign that perhaps the dragon's threat hadn't yet reached these lands. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion for a moment... Baking bread? It seemed like such a simple task compared to the looming threat of a Cryovain. Yet, as she glanced around at the faces of the gnomes, she realized that to them, this was more than just a frivolous pastime... In that moment, she had a feeling that protecting these gnomes wasn't going to be just about fending off dragons or reinforcing walls.

And just as her companions asked before, she added: We could not depart without ensuring that you had everything you need to face this threat. Is there anything else we can do to assist you?

Tervaround squirms a bit at the word king. “Yes talking with the kings might be a good idea. But the protection of Gnomengard lies in being in a magical bubble, and having studded the whole system with effective weapons.” He looks straight at Dorik “the latter is doing a great job in keeping away unwanted visitors, such as tax collectors, mail deliverer but also orcs. We are perfectly safe here, everybody who enters Gnomengarde does so on their own peril. We are the gnomes of Gnomengarde and do not need anything or anybody from outside for our protection”

the gnome with the poker calls out “Send them to Fibblestib, that will be quicker for them to get answers than from his Majesty.

He sure has an opinion on everything, and if not him Dabbledob will have ideas.” The gnome folding the bread loaves interjects.
Yes that is a good idea, go see Fibblestib and Dabbledob, they are sure to be found in their workshop on the other side of the river

Gilavar sees a regular kit hen, with the normal hustle and bustle of such a place. The most unusual thing about it is the large number if strange and elaborate devices, apparently used in the preparation of food.

You might want to get on your way now, the sooner you talk with Fibblestib, the sooner you are gone.

Katya feels her lower lip tremble as she resists the urge to pout, but is unable to do anything to prevent the tips of her new butterfly wings from sagging in disappointment at the urgency with which the Gnome is trying to shoo them from their lands. Even her enjoyment of the sounds of their names is not enough to lift her spirits, dampened at being dismissed. Above all else, the smell of fresh bread reminds her of stealing into the kitchens back in her home in the middle of the night to take her fill of the fresh bread resting in the ovens being prepared for the morning breaking of the fast. The Princess had hoped no one ever got into trouble for her midnight snacking, but considering the bakers were always in a good mood, she suspected that her activities were well known and planned for, and if not, at least forgiven by her father. The rush of memories helped alleviate some of the disappointment, but the lingering sadness would not be remedied without at least trying the bread. As the rest begin to head out, she hangs back and leans over to speak with Tervaround.

"We have travelled a long distance to get here, would it perhaps be too much to ask to sample some of this marvelous smelling bread? We do not mean to offend in our questions, and I for one am truly curious about you and your peoples, your creativity is known throughout the world and is truly inspiring"
