Exploration

  • 10 Exploration Points / day
  • each hex has a Terrain Difficulty, traveling from one to another costs TD1 + TD2 points
    • if the cost is more than the group has, they can still travel, but will have negative sum of EP, which is auto-paid from next day's amount
    • if the group still want to explore / move when in the negative, it will hurt in some way
  • each hex has features to be discovered
    • a feature can have hazards
    • a feature can have rewards
    • open features are automatically discovered when the group first enters the hex
    • general features are discovered at fixed stages, such as one feature / 7 EP
    • special features also are discovered at fixed stages and checked against the same progress, but at higher limits, like one / 12 EP
    • closed features can only be discovered when a condition is fulfilled, and checked against a separate progress
    • if the group spends X Ep on exploring, they'll gain dX+X progress
  • depending on terrain visibility, the group will be able to see surrounding land, which will appear on the map

I'm also planning to use progress bars:

Coordinates can always work, but I hope this will make things easier: relative hex reference. You can ask me to mark any hex with any symbol, and I'll update the map. Abbreviations, shapes, and number are all valid, and also colors.

Starting point: green dot in the white hex

The grey hexes are north and south of the start, so the blue triangle is S2 from it, the black triangle is S3 from it, and the red triangle is S3E1 or S2SE1 from it.

Horizontally it's easy: cyan dot is W3, the black dot is E2, orange dot is W2S1.

The red square is NW2, the green square is NE3, while the blue square is NE2E1.

Starting point: black dot

The blue square is N2, green square is N3, red triangle is SW3, blue triangle is SW2W1, black triangle is SW3W1.
